ACTION PLAN

To contribute to the goal of preparing reflective practitioners, student teachers will write an Action Plan at the end of first, second, and third field
experience with input from their cooperating teacher and/or the University supervisor. The Action Plan synthesizes each field experiences
evaluation, links each field experience to the next, establishes goals for improvement, and forms an agenda for discussion between the student
teacher, the cooperating teacher and University supervisor at the beginning of the subsequent field experience. For First Field Experience only
(excluding Physical Education students), the Action Plan will be completed during the co-requisite Professional Seminar course.

I have shown thorough to advanced development in the following Professional Competencies developed
during this field experience:
During this field experience, I believe I have shown thorough development in Professional Competencies 1,3,4,7,9,10,
and 11. I do believe that I need to develop these competencies more and will gain that through experience. For
instance, when I have the opportunity to develop more lesson plans to use in class, I will try to use more pedagogical
resources, as seen in competency 11. Additionally, in competency 10, I would like to become more familiar with the
teaching staff for social sciences and to become more familiar with what their goals are for the course overall.
I believe I have demonstrated advanced development in competencies 2,8, and 12. In terms of communication, using
technology, and acting professionally, I have grown and gained a stronger understanding how these competencies are
seen in the school and classroom.

I would like to improve my skills in the following Professional Competencies developed during this field
experience:
The competencies where I believe I need the most improvement are 5 and 6. I believe I
demonstrated acceptable development in these areas. For competency 5, I would like to be more
aware of the students individual needs and strengths and to help develop evaluation criteria. This
would develop in FE3 when I have a longer time to get to know the students. For competency 6, I
need more experience and practice when dealing with classroom management.

I will make use of the following strategies for improvement:


In order to improve the following competencies, I believe that confidence and being comfortable in
classroom setting is key. I will try to get to know the students better in order to discover their
interests and how to make lessons more related to them. Furthermore, I would like to work with
various members of the teaching staff and gain insight to different teaching strategies and
classroom management strategies. Although I did get to go into different classrooms and see
different strategies, most of the teachers were preparing their students for final exams and
assignments.
