Would Having A Leader Increase Of Decrease Your

Chance Of Survival?

Whether or not the leader increases your chance of survival depends on the type of leader. If
the leader in uncivilized and does not think carefully before making choices it would decrease
your chance of survival as people would start killing others both intentionally (like Roger killed
Piggy) and accidently (like the hunters killing SImon). However if the leader was more like Ralph it
would increase their chances of survival. Ralph would make it so that the group was ordered and
was as productive as they can be. Ralph would be an inspiration to others as he is capable of
motivating people to work and keep their spirits high. He can make sure that the group is
confident they will get off the island.

How Might The Group Choose A Leader?

The group can choose a leader in a similar way to how they choose a president in the USA.
Everyone who wants to be a leader will volunteer for candidate. All candidates will present their
reasons as to why they should be a leader in a speech. The rest of the group should vote on a
leader on both their speech and things like bravery, intelligence, motivational, etc. The candidate
with the most votes is selected to be the leader.

How Would You Deal With Conflict Between Those Who
Want To Uphold The Rules And Those Who Think The
Rules Should Be Changed Or Eliminated?
Those that believe the rules be changed or eliminated will have to prepare a speech
explaining why they think so. After the speech a vote if held with the whole group. If over 50% of
the group agrees with the speaker the rule shall be changed or eliminated. If exactly 50% of people
vote for the rule to be changed then the leader may choose to change or not change the rule. If the
speaker responds with a violent backlash if the rule wasnt changed or eliminated then the
speaker is subject to solitary confinement.

How Did Your Values Affect Your Responses To The First
3 Questions?

Since I live in a place where we have a democratic government (Canada), my initial response
to leadership is democratic. I believed a leader would increase the chance of survival if he was
organised and was responsible. This is how most leaders are in democracy. I wrote that the
process of choosing leaders should be done via an election, which is the same process used in
democracy. The rules I had written are very common in most democratic countries, and are the
norm for maintaining order and balance.
