Introduction
The IPAT is used to test the ability to analyze and solve problems. This test is not
designed to measure the technical knowledge. IBM uses this test because it has proven to
be a valid predictor of the ability to rapidly learn and process complex information. This
ability is essential for the job to which you are applying.
IBM recruits applicants through many different sources. This test enables IBM to compare
applicants on a standard, objective measure. This online test takes approximately 45
minutes to an hour to complete. IBM will use test scores as part of the recruitment process.
Test scores will be kept confidential.
Once you are at the web site where the test is administered, you will find more information
about the test, how and why we use this test, practice test questions and if you need a test
accommodation (any modifications/changes required due to any disability)
In preparation for taking the test, we recommend having a calculator, pencil, and
paper available for use during the test.
