To cater for future population growth in the South Buderim, Sippy Downs and Mountain Creek areas, Unitywater is
constructing a new sewerage main to the Kawana Sewage Treatment Plant.
The Wyuna Canal section of the sewerage pipeline involves installation of 900mm diameter high density
polyethylene (HDPE) pipe using horizontal directional drilling, extending from the western side of Kawana Way,
under Wyuna Canal to the Kawana Sewage Treatment Plant.
Following completion of the Wyuna Canal alignment, installation will continue from the western side under Kawana
Way using microtunnelling to thrust a 1000mm diameter steel enveloper containing the 900mm HDPE pipe.
Construction
Location: Kawana Way near Wyuna Canal, Warana
Traffic control will be put in place along Kawana Way as necessary, with reduced
speeds from south of Parrearra Channel bridge to Kawana Island Boulevard
roundabout.
What to Pedestrian detour extending approximately 120 metres on the eastern side of
expect: Kawana Way.
Some noise from the microtunnelling.
A section of trees and native vegetation to be cleared as approved by Department of
Environment and Heritage Protection and restored at completion of final testing.
