Solution and explanation : Position,person,distance, rank & color..1-B-31-iii-blue,, 2-J-29-iv-green,, 3-K-
35-i-black,, 4-C-27-v-red ,,& 5-L-33-ii-brown....

Make cases based on turn,

Step I: First place B at first acc to line no 4, B X X X X,
Step II: Now put red which may be in 3rd 4th or 5th position (ACC TO LINE NO 3)
Case1- B, X, (Red), X, X ,
Case2- B, X, X, (Red), X,
Case3- B, X, X, X ,(Red).
Step 3: PUT J which in above case where J is before the first rank, so
Case 1: B, X, (Red), J(Green), X-35,
Case 2: B, J(Green), X-35, (Red), X,
Case 3.1 - B, J(Green), X-35, X, (Red) and
Case 3.2- B, X, J(Green), X-35, (Red),
Make cases based on turn,
Step I: First place B at first acc to line no 4, B X X X X,
Step II: Now put red which may be in 3rd 4th or 5th position (ACC TO LINE NO 3)
Case1- B, X, (Red), X, X ,
Case2- B, X, X, (Red), X,
Case3- B, X, X, X ,(Red).
Step 3: PUT J which in above case where J is before the first rank, so
Case 1: B, X, (Red), J(Green), X-35,
Case 2: B, J(Green), X-35, (Red), X,
Case 3.1 - B, J(Green), X-35, X, (Red) and
Case 3.2- B, X, J(Green), X-35, (Red),

Step 4: Now read the line no 5 about C, So next to C is brown, so Acc to case put C then next
position colour is Brown,
So case 1- Invalid,
Case 2: B, J(Green), X-35, C(red), (Brown),

Page 89
PUZZLE COLLECTION
case 3.1: B, J(Green), C-35, (Brown), (Red),
Case 3.2: Invalid,

Step 5: Acc to line 8, The person in blue shirt did not throw the discus at 2nd or 4th position, so
Blue must be first position and single left position filled with black at 3rd position for both cases.
Case 2: B (Blue), J(Green), Black-35, C(red), (Brown),
case 3.1: B (Blue), J(Green), C-35 (Black), (Brown), (Red),

Step 6: Now L was not the person who threw the discus at 31 or at 35 feet. So

Case 2: B (Blue), J(Green), K-35 (Black), C(red), L-33(Brown), because 5th position through
>30

case 3.1.1: B (Blue), J(Green), C-35 (Black), L(Brown), K(Red),

case 3.1.2: B (Blue), J(Green), C-35 (Black), K(Brown),L(Red),

Step 7: Acc to line 3 The person in red shirt threw the discus two feet less than the person who
threw the discus only after one person.

So, Case 2:, C= J-2 and B is not lowest, and values left 27, 29 and 31

So B=31, J=29 and C= 27

So final Ans is B-31 (Blue), J-29(Green), K-35 (Black), C-27(red), L-33(Brown),

Case 3.1.1 and Case 3.1.2 not valid, if we take red= J-2 and 5th position is >30, L was not
the person who threw the discus at 31 or at 35 feet.
