2 Overview User Guide for PowerPlot v2.5

Quick Start

What You Will Need

PowerPlot v2.5 Installation Disk or CD-Rom with Installation file.
At least 800 X 600 screen resolution. 1024 X 768 or better is highly
recommended.
Security Hardware Key.
Microsoft Windows 95, 98 or later. Windows NT 3.51, 4.0 or later.

Installing
Execute PowerPlot v2.5 Setup Program- Setup25.exe.

Screen & Printing Font Adjustments

Depending on screen size, resolution and type of printer you will be
using, changes to the Default Settings will be necessary. The default
device label font size might be the correct size for your screen but will
be too large when printed. You will need to reduce the font size. See
Default Style Settings on page 16.
Use the Sample Project included with PowerPlot v2.5 to adjust the
default settings before beginning your projects.

Getting Started

To start a New Project:

Choose New Project on the Main Menu Bar under File.
Blank Tcc will be displayed with Tcc scale set at Current X 10 @ 4160
Volts. The Tcc default name is TCC 1.
Choose a device on the Device Toolbar on the left side of the Tcc.
The Device Dialog will be displayed. Relocate Dialog to the side of the
Tcc. This will become the default position for this Dialog when
displayed until you change it.
Enter the data and/or settings and choose OK.
Choose the Scale icon on the Device Toolbar, fifth icon from the
bottom.
Enter scale values desired. Choose OK.
Double-click on the Tcc (white space) and enter the Tcc name you
desire. Choose OK.
Choose Legend icon on Device Toolbar, third from the bottom. Enter
data and choose OK.
Choose Single-Line Diagram icon on Device Toolbar, second icon from
the bottom. Choose a Device(s), arrange and Close.
Choose Print Tcc icon on the Main Toolbar, fourth icon from the left.
Click on the Close X, top right corner of Window. Click OK to name
the Project.
Enter Project Name and location project file is to be saved. Click Save.
The next time you start PowerPlot v2.5, this project will be listed at the
bottom of the File sub-menu on the Main Menu Bar making it easy to
open this Project.

AutoSave Feature
AutoSave is located on the Main Menu Bar in Tools | Preferences.

Automatic Backup Enabled

If this item is checked, each time you add to a Tcc or edit an item on the
Tcc, the project is saved to a temporary file. If the electric power goes
off or you experience a crash and you have not saved recent changes,
when you start PowerPlot v2.5 again, it will ask if you want to open the
backup file. When you exit PowerPlot v2.5 in the normal manner this
temporary file is deleted.

Save Project Every _ Minutes

If this item is checked , the project will be saved every (minutes
entered) to the main project file. This option should not be checked if
you do not want to save the changes made to the Project.

On-Line Manual
Additional help is available from either this Manual or the On-Line
Manual. Each Dialog has a Help Button which will take you directly to
the On-Line Manual help page for that Dialog.

Transformer Damage Curve

System % Z

Equals the Transformer KVA divided by the Available system short-

circuit KVA at the Transformer Primary; multiplied by 100. OR

Equals the System per-unit impedance at the Transformer Primary

mutiplied by the Transformer KVA divided by the Base KVA of the
Short-Circuit Study, and multiplied by 100.

ANSI Curve
ANSI Std C57.109-85.

ANSI Curve Shift

Method used to account for the primary device seeing less than 1.0 per-
unit for a ground fault on the secondary of a delta-wye grd connection
or for a phase-phase fault on the secondary of a delta-delta connection.
