Role: Zookeeper

Objectives:

1. The students will be able to name several animals that live in the
zoo.

2. The students will be able to understand what the role of a


zookeeper entails.

3. The students will be able to understand what the habitat of


different animals looks like.

4. The students will be able to understand new vocabulary terms


associated with zoos.

Vocabulary:
Zoo
Exhibit

Materials:
Several stuffed animals (frog, giraffe, panda, gorilla, lion, polar
bear, bird, etc)
Animal food (containers labeled for animals filled with cheerios,
marshmallows, pretzels, carrots, raisins, almonds, etc.)
Safari hat
Water bottles
Small broom or dust pan
Images of habitats around the world
Work boots
Materials to build small habitat (sticks, grass, flowers, leaves,
etc.)

Questions:
1. Can you describe the type of habitat a gorilla lives in?
2. How would you prepare an exhibit for a polar bear?
3. What are your favorite animals in your zoo? Why?
4. What is the hardest part of your job as a zookeeper?
5. What is your favorite part of your job as a zookeeper?
