1. The modulation percentage for sinusoidal signal is 75%, when the carrier power is
11KW. Calculate the total power of the signal.
2. An AM transmitter radiates 30 kilowatts of power when modulation percentage is 55.
How much of this is carrier power?
3. The total antenna current of an AM transmitter is 10A. If the modulation index is 0.5,
calculate the antenna current when only carrier is sent.
4. The antenna current of an AM transmitter is 10A when only the carrier is sent, but it
increases to 11A when the carrier is modulated by a sine wave. Find the percentage
modulation. Determine the antenna current when the depth of modulation changes to
0.8.
5. A certain transmitted radiates 10 KW of power with carrier un-modulated and 11KW
when the carrier is sinusoidally modulated:
a) Calculated the modulation index and percentage of modulation.
b) If another sine wave corresponding to 30% modulation is transmitted
simultaneously, determine the total power.
6. A certain transmitter radiates 10KW of power when only carrier is sent. What will be
total power to be transmitted when the carrier is modulated by two sine wave
simultaneously having modulation index to be 0.4. And 0.6 respectively.
7. An audio frequency signal 10 sin 2 x 500t is used to amplitude modulate a carrier of
50 sin 2 x 106t. Calculate: a) Modulation index, b) Sideband frequencies,
c)Amplitude of each sideband, d)Bandwidth required, e) total power delivered to the
load of 600 ohms.
8. The tuned circuit of an oscillator in a simple AM transmitter employs 50H coil and 1
nano Farad capacitor. If the output of oscillator is modulated by audio frequencies up
to 10Khz, what is the frequency range occupied by the sidebands?
9. A carrier signal 10 sin 2 x 10 6t is frequency modulated by a signal 5 sin 2 x 400t.
Determine the value of frequency deviation, modulation index and bandwidth
required if Kf = 4Hz/Volt.
10. A single tone message signal frequency modulates a carrier 50 sin 2 x 10 5t with
frequency deviation of 1KHz and modulation index of 0.5, determine the bandwidth

11. A carrier signal 10 sin 2 x 106t is frequency modulated by a signal m(t) =
5 sin 2 x 40t + 8 sin 2 x 400t + 4 sin 2 x 800t. Determine the value of modulation
index and bandwidth required if Kf = 5Hz/Volt.

b) Carrier frequency
c) Modulating Frequency
d) Modulation index
