HEMATOPOEISIS

(ATLAS)
Pictures taken From Hematology books and Internet sources
ERYTHROPOESIS
Friendly tip :
Check for the size (in relation to the
mature RBC (8u)
Check for color (hgb)
poly = red and blue
Ortho = red
NOMENCLATURE

Example: Pronormoblast = Rubriblast = proerythroblast

Diagramatic scheme
PRONORMOBLAST
Size: 18 to 20 m, the
largest and most
immature,
the mother cell
N:C ratio: 4:1
Nuclear chromatin: Round
nucleus with a densely
packed chromatin, evenly
distributed, fine texture
with deep violet color,
nucleoli may be present
but are hard to visualize
Cytoplasm: Dark marine
blue definitive areas of
clearing
BASOPHILIC NORMOBLAST
Size: 16 m
N:C ratio: 4:1
Nuclear chromatin:
Round nucleus with
crystalline chromatin
appearance,
parachromatin
underlayer may be
visible, red-purple color
tochromatin
Cytoplasm: Cornflower
blue with indistinct areas
of clearing
POLYCHROMATOPHILIC NORMOBLAST
Size: 13 m
N:C ratio: 2:1
Nuclear chromatin:
Chromatin is condensed,
moderately compacted
Cytoplasm: A color mixture,
blue layered with tinges of
orange red, the dawn of
hemoglobinization as
hemoglobin begins to be
synthesized
Poly many
Chroma color
(reddish and bluish)
ORTHOCHROMIC NORMOBLAST
Size: 8 ms
N:C ratio: 1:1
Nuclear chromatin:
Dense, velvet-
appearing
homogenous
chromatin
Cytoplasm: Increased
volume, with orange-
red color tinges with
slight blue tone
POLYCHROMATOPHILIC ERYTHROCYTE
Size: 8 m
Appearance: Remnant of
RNA visualized as
reticulum, filamentous
structure in chains or as
a single dotted structure
in new methylene blue
stain: seen in Wrights
stain as large bluish-red
cells, polychromatophilic
macrocytes

C. MYELOCYTE
D. METAMYELOCYE
E. BAND
F.SEGMENTERS
Indentations cant be used solely as confirming the cell in the myeloid series
because some varies depending on the stage (early or late stage)
