Blessing of St. Dominic Savio Chapel, Kampung Mandalipau.

The 11th of June 2016 saw the blessing and the opening of the St. Dominic
Savio Chapel in Kampung Mandalipau. It was a joyous occasion shared by the
people in Mandalipau as well as the Catholic and Montfortian family.

Montfort Youth Training Centre took the initiative as part of the outreach
programme to build a new chapel for the people of Mandalipau. The
Carpentry Trainees were actively involved in the furnishing of this new
chapel. The Trainees along with their instructors produced the pews as well as
the furnishings.

The Most Reverend Archbishop John Wong blessed and dedicated the chapel
in the Eucharistic mass co-provided by Parish Priest, Fr. Thomas Yip, Fr. Bruno
Yaasun and Fr. Jimsy Julius Alex.

In his homily, The Most Reverend celebrated St. Barnabas and his memories.
St. Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith and The Most
Reverend invites the congregation to open their hearts to the Holy Spirit. He
further encouraged the congregation to be better Christians through the
encouragement of the Holy Spirit, who fills our hearts, to spread the goods
news of the Lord.

The Chairman of the Congregational Committee of St. Dominic Savio Chapel,

Mr. Felix Sumpongol, in his speech stated that the existence of the new
chapel after 55 years of existence is a testament of Gods greatness. He
further stated that it is a miracle that Montfort and its community went above
and beyond in helping the people of Kg. Mandalipau in getting donors for the
building of a new place of worship for them especially in this kind of economy.
Initially, the people of Mandalipau had requested for assistance for the
building of a new Hall but upon site inspection it was decided that more than
anything else, the people of Mandalipau needed a newer and more
comfortable place of worship.

The Most Reverand Archbishop John Wong in his speech thanked Montfort
Youth Training Centre and its generous donors who took the leap in making
the new chapel a reality. The Most Reverand also further stated that he hopes
that the new chapel will be fully utilized by the people of Mandalipau to
strengthen and grow further in their faith.

Bro. Gasper representing Bro. Francis Chua stated that Bro. Francis was
instrumental in many ways in the building of the chapel. Bro. Gasper told of
the story of how Bro. Francis ended up in Mandalipau some time ago last year
and the cathecist approached him requesting for help in which Bro. Francis
went further than the scope of the help that was asked of. Bro. Gasper further
thanked the various donors for their generosity and kindness in building the
chapel and he hopes that the community grows in faith and not give in to
temptation.

It is with hope that the establishment of this new chapel that is bigger and
more comfortable than the previous chapel would invite more members of
the community to come and strengthen their Christian faith.
