Mission
Our mission is to contribute to strong, healthy, and vibrant community by
facilitating engagement, increasing access to nutritious food, promoting
sustainability, and utilizing already existing resources. We will accomplish this
mission with the help of volunteers by collecting unwanted, locally grown produce
through our community partnerships and delivering directly to low-income seniors
or non-profit organizations that serve our community.

Partner Organizations
The success of this program depends on the commitment and dedication of its partners and volunteers.
Homer Js Senior Dog Sanctuary has recruited five key partner organizations to help further this mission.

Common Question

Q: Why does salary represent a majority of your budgeted expenses?

A: There is a good reason why salary represents more than 50% of our requested
budget. We do not have any overhead costs. We do not have to pay for rent, utilities,
facilities maintenance. We do not have to advertise, print, or promote the program
beyond trying to raise funds.

Our biggest investments by far are in transportation and labor. We have to drive to
picking locations and around town to make deliveries. It takes approximately 4 man
hours to harvest a few hundred pounds of fruit and another 3-4 to make deliveries. We
were also spending approximately 6 hours per week harvesting vegetables with our
growing partners.

Where other organizations have to spend money on the resources they need, our
primary commodity, produce, comes to us free. We just need to invest the time to
collect and distribute it.
