Conceptual Framework

On the basis of the foregoing theories culled from the review of various related
literature and studies, the research paradigm that serves as a guide to the study is the
Input-Process-Output model devised by Stoner, et al (1995).

The research paradigm is depicted in Figure 1. The inputs are focus on the
profile of the respondents, level awareness of the respondents, and the extent of
benefits of PUP-CEAFA on BERDE-green building for operations in the aspects of
management, water and energy. Expected output of the research were the identification
of the respondents of the study, assessed level of awareness, and assessed extent of
benefits of PUP-CEAFA on BERDE-green building for operations. As an end results,
solutions and recommendations to the issues encountered on the BERDE-green
building practices are expected. For the final result of this research, BERDE-green
building action plan is hereby proposed on PUP-CEAFA in the aspects of management,
water and energy.

Statement of the Problem


The study aimed to assess Polytechnic University of the Philippines, College of
Engineering, Architecture and Fine Arts building based on Building for Ecologically
Responsive Design Excellence towards Green and Sustainable Built Environment.
Specifically, the study would like to answer the following.

1.0 What is the profile of the respondents in terms of the following?

2.0 What is the level of awareness of the respondents on the BERDE-Green Building

Significance of the Study


The researcher strongly believes that the findings gained from this study would
be beneficial and of great help to all concerned stakeholders.
Specifically, this study is deemed to benefit the following:

The Construction Industry. The results of this research study serves as a guide
for all stakeholders to be aware that BERDE-green building program need to be
addressed as a comprehensive integrated management activity since construction is
one of the industries that contributes to the growth of the national economy.

The Faculty. The result of this research study will provide insights to understand
approaches in BERDE-green building program and able to use techniques and
procedures efficiently and further educate aspiring technical professionals on the
benefits of green building practices on the society, economy and to environment.
