Pressure operated pump

DN 1" x 1" - 1.1/2"x 1.1/2" TW 33

DN 2" x 2" - 3" x 2"
Application
The TW 33 (Pressure Operated Pump)
fabricated in carbon steel (stainless steel on
request) is recommended in the transfer of
high-temperature Iiquids such as
condensate, oils and other Iiquids to a higher
elevation or pressure.
The pump starts when there is something to
pump and stops when there isnt.
Under certain conditions, it can drain a closed
vessel under vacuum or pressure.
The pump can be operated by steam, com-
pressed air or gas and can be used for Iifting
any kind of noncorrosive liquids.
Connections are female screwed.

Liquid flows by gravity into the pump through
an inlet check valve Iifting a float which, at the 0,69 0,34 815 1.315 1.860 3170
upper Iimit of its travel, opens the supply valve 0,69 0,14 905 1.495 2.315 3945
which allows steam or compressed air to enter 1,7 1,0 905 1.495 2.315 3945
the pump body. Pressure in the pump builds up 1,7 0,69 950 1.770 2.540 4550
until just sufficient to overcome back pressure. 1,7 0,34 1.040 1905 2.765 4715
The pressurized Iiquid opens the outlet check
valve and discharge commences. When the 3,4 2,8 905 1.450 2.175 3720
float reaches the minimum Iower level it closes 3,4 1,7 1.040 1.680 2.630 4440
the steam or compressed air supply valve and 3,4 0,69 1.090 1.815 2.905 4900
opens the vent, allowing the Iiquid to fill the 5,2 4,1 905 1.540 2.270 3855
pump again. As the amount of Iiquid discharged 5,2 2,8 1.090 1.725 2.630 4440
at each stroke is known, the total volume 5,2 1,0 1.135 1.905 2.995 5080
passed during a given period can be calculated
by counting the number of strokes during that 6,9 4,1 1.000 1.630 2.630 4490
period. For this purpose a special counter is 6,9 2,8 1.090 1.905 2.765 4715

available which screws into a tapped
connection on the top cover of the pump. This 8,6 4,1 1.040 1.765 2.720 4625
counter records the number of pumping strokes 8,6 2,8 1.090 2.040 2.860 4805
thus enabling the pump to function as a reliable 8,6 1,0 1.180 2.130 3.040 5130

Calculations
Total back pressure:
1.5 bar + (6m x 0.0981) = 2.09 bar
Pump choice, assuming steam for motive
pressure of 6.9 bar and a back pressure of PACKAGED AUTOMATIC PUMP UNIT
2.8 bar, the 2" pump has a capacity from (SUITABLE FOR STEAM SUPPLY)
flow rate capacity chart 1, of 2765 Kg/h.

CORRECTION FOR FILLING HEAD:

With 0.15m filling head the corretion factor
from chart 3, is 0.7. The corrected capacity is,
2765 Kg/h x 0.7 = 1935 Kg/h.

CORRECTION FOR AIR AS MOTIVE GAS:

The % back pressure 2.09 bar/6.9 bar = 30%
The correction factor from chart 2, is 1.08.
The corrected capacity is,
1935 Kg/h x 1.08 = 2090 Kg/h.

The TW 33 Packaged unit comprises an TW
