Role and This course is part of the financial accounting class which
Purposes consists of the Advanced Financial Accounting 1 and Advanced
Financial Accounting 2. The course aims on giving understanding
to students the process and accounting procedures of preparing
consolidated financial statement under PSAK/IFRS. Specifically,
students will learn the concept of control, recording the business
combination transaction, preparing the worksheet for
consolidation of financial statement, intercompany transaction
between consolidated entities, changes in ownership in
subsidiary, consolidation when subsidiarys financial statements
are reported in foreign currency and other issues related to
consolidated financial statement. Students will also learn how to
record transacation in foreign currency based on PSAK/IFRS.
Subject Upon completion of the subject, student will be able to:
Learning Technical Competence in Financial Accounting:
Outcomes 1. Apply International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) or
other relevant standards to transactions and other events. (T2)
a. Understand the concept, process, and recording the business
combination transaction under PSAK / IFRS.
b. Understand the concept of functional currency and record the
transaction in foreign currency based on PSAK/IFRS.
2. Prepare financial statements, including consolidated financial
statements, in accordance with IFRSs or other relevant
standards. (T4)
c. Prepare the consolidated financial statement with 100%
ownership and less than 100% ownership.
d. Prepare the consolidated financial statement at book value
and more than book value.
e. Understand and apply the effect of intercompany transaction
to consolidated financial statement.
f. Understand and apply the effect of changes in ownership to
consolidated financial statement.
g. Understand and apply other issues related to consolidated
financial statement, such as acquisition at interim period,
consolidated statement of cash flow, consolidated earning
per share, taxes and other issues.
h. Prepare the consolidated financial statement when
subsidiarys financial statements are reported in foreign
currency.

Teaching/Lear Teaching method uses active lecturing and class discussions, in
ning which students achieve the study objectives by discussing and

lecturer. The problems and cases are taken from the text book.
At some sessions use collaborative learning with simple jigsaw
approaches. Students are also required to attend the tutorial
sessions to improve their technical skill related to each topic in all
sessions. The students will be required by tutor to complete the
problems, quizes, and home works.

Details of The specific learning methods used in this subject are:

At session 5 and 9 uses collaborative learning with simple
jigsaw approaches, in which students are divided into groups
and discuss the specific cases in Home Group Discussion
(HGD) and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The cases are
divided into several topics for FGD and then all of FGDs
topics will be discussed in HDG. In each discussion (FGD and
HGD) students will assess their peer in a peer review form.
Finally, each group will present the results of discussions with
the lecturer as facilitator. Results of the discussion and
presentations are expected to improve students
understanding about the concept and the implementation
based on cases. This presentation sessions are also expected
to benefit the students to learn from other focus group
discussion.
