Working Together

to Meet Indonesias Energy Needs

FOREWORD
The theme of the 36th Annual IPA Convention and Exhibition, Working Together To Meet Indonesias Energy Needs, emphasizes
the importance and even urgency of collaboration among the stakeholders working to maintain production in existing oil and gas
fields and exploring for and discovering new energy reserves which will carry Indonesia into a prosperous future.

Since its establishment in 1971, the Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) and its member companies and individual members
have worked hand-in-hand with Government of Indonesia ministries and their staff in a relationship of mutual concern to advance
the Indonesian petroleum industry. As with previous conventions, this years convention will offer a technical program that
highlights the development of new ideas and the ongoing work being undertaken by companies and industry professionals in the
areas of Engineering, Geosciences, Business-Commercial and Other topics of interest.

The Convention Technical Program Committee received numerous abstracts and manuscripts covering topics of interest in Drilling,
Production and Reservoir Engineering; Petroleum Systems, Structural and Stratigraphic Geology; Seismic Data Acquisition,
Processing and Interpretation; Business and Commercial and Health, Safety and Environment. These abstracts and manuscripts
reflect the broad and diverse nature of the Indonesian petroleum industry with contributions coming from large and small oil and
gas companies, petroleum services companies, government agencies and academia. The manuscript selection and preparation
process has always been challenging but a systematic process of review and approval developed over the last few years assures
that we end with an excellent selection of manuscripts for final publication.

The Indonesian Petroleum Association and the 2012 Technical Program Committee sincerely hope that the technical information
being presented in either oral or poster sessions at this years convention will be of use to delegates attending the convention.
We also hope that the manuscripts published in this years convention proceedings will become a valuable addition to your
reference library for years to come.

Let us all continue with a commitment of Working Together To Meet Indonesias Energy Needs so as to enhance the national
welfare of Indonesia.
