INTRODUCTION
PURPOSE
This proposal present situation of the technological aspects of the Imus Institute of
Science and Technology specifically the connectivity access in the internet and the
recommendation of the proposer to implement a Wi-fi network connectivity access which could
solve or somehow achieve the vision and goals of the institution regarding the technological
competencies among students and faculty.

SCOPE
This proposal points out the importance Wi-fi connection in regards to the technological
aspects of the institution in achieving its vision and goal to produce suitable instructors and a
wide array of technologically competent students. The proposal also shows the problems and the
solutions and benefits that can be accumulated from the project.

METHODS/ PRODECURE
The proposer gathered data in the preparation of the project. He conducts a benchmarking
of different universities in Cavite particularly De La Salle University- Dasmarias, Unida
Christian Colleges, STI Colleges, and FEU Cavite which provides Wi-fi connections in their
university, observe and interview students, instructors, and administrative related to the
problems, and effects arises in the implementation of the Wi-fi connectivity towards the
stakeholders in their universities. He also develops a questionnaire survey that was disseminated
to be answered and interviews with the students, instructors, and administrative in Imus Institute
of Science and Technology.

PROBLEM/CAUSES
Part of the Imus Institute of Science and Technologys vision are the 21 st century skills
that are to be equipped and needed in order produce competent administrators, faculty, support
staff and students. Included in the 21st century skills are the Information, Media and Technology
Skills; wherein, today we live in a technology and media-suffused environment with: 1) access to
an abundance of information, 2) rapid changes in technology tools, and 3) the ability to
collaborate and make individual contributions on an unprecedented scale. To be effective in the
21st century, teachers and students must be able to create, evaluate, and effectively utilize
information, media, and technology. Also, one of the goals of the institution is to be able to
develop technological competencies among students though awareness, use and application of
appropriate technology in every discipline that will make them competitive globally.
Relative to the technological aspects, the proposer believes that Wi-Fi is essential in todays
world. Thus, providing regulated access to a wireless network will enable the institution to better
meet the learning needs of a diverse student population. Whether it be for social contact, to check
emails, to google information about anything and everything, or for up to date world news as it
happens. Today Wi-fi is an accepted part of most student's and teachers lives as they access it at
home and in their community and, by extension, the proposer feel it should be accessible at
school to support their learning

The institution is using wired technology; which means that it restricts internet access to a
specific location, and in many schools this means the internet is confined to one room- usually a
computer lab or in the faculty room where only one to two computers are available to be used by
the instructors. Piso-net computer program of the MIS department is also limited in the
availability of computer in the need of the students and of somehow out- dated in features. The
availability of the Wi-fi connections are much freer than wired as it allows immediate access to
an unlimited range of resources from anywhere in the school. If a school doesn't have Wi-Fi, it is
essentially blocking students from using an entire generation of devices and educators to employ
new educational practices as access becomes a given. most of which are actually easier and more
cost-effective for them to use than traditional computers. This means that Wi-fi that allows
access to a wealth of learning resources and the ability to communicate outside of the classroom
and connect with the world in real time.

THE PROPOSAL/ SOLUTION

The Prospect Plan for a Wi-fi connectivity access includes a limited number of wireless
access points that would be activated as necessary. The plan will provide a wireless network
consisting of 5 access points in the institution located in the following places: Garden Cafe,
College Library, hallway in the 4th floor of M-Building, hallway in the C- Building and an access
point in the office that is for school and district administrative use. Except for the office site,
which Facilities staff require to maintain heating, lighting and other electrical systems in the
school, these access points will be activated when there is a need for students to access the
wireless network. When not in use, the network will be turned off. These sites, including the
one in the library which, well away from other classrooms. The technical aspects and installation
of the system will be developed and installed by IT specialists in the MIS Department.
Relative policies will be proposed and be implemented such as: 1.) Deactivation of the
Wi-fi connectivity during exam periods; 2.) Maximum of 2 gigabytes of connection will be
provided to each student throughout the semester period; 3.) Providing of vouchers and
notification for each student with their use of Wi-fi; 4.) Restricted internet access on the different
sites that need not to be access by the students specially; 5.) Inclusion of the internet connection
fee in the tuition fee of the students.
BENEFITS
The benefits of the proposal are as follows:
Having Wi-Fi in schools provides mobility, devices that connect to Wi-Fi can be used just
about anywhere in the school.
If used correctly, will help prepare students for their future careers, which will inevitably
include the use of wireless technology.
Integrating technology into the classroom is a great way to reach diversity in learning
styles.
When mobile technology is readily available in the classroom, students can access the
most up-to-date information quicker and easier than ever before.
Students become more responsible. Technology helps students take more control over
their own learning. They learn how to make their own decisions and think for themselves.
Student can have access to digital textbooks that are constantly updated and often more
vivid, helpful, creative, and a lot cheaper than those old heavy books.
Increases the opportunities for students and teachers to collaborate by making it easier for
them to share ideas and schoolwork.
Technology helps the teachers prepare students for the real-world environment. As our
nation becomes increasingly more technology-dependent, it becomes even more
necessary that to be successful citizens, students must learn to be tech-savvy.
Enables educators to employ new educational practices as access becomes a given.
Teachers and other members of staff are open to becoming more creative in the way that
they teach, and the resources that they use in the classroom.
Having Wi-fi within a school instantly opens new communication barriers in a myriad of
different ways. Students can communicate with each other, with their teachers and other
members of staff and in cases of crisis, with their family members at home.

In establishing the provision and policy suggested by the proposer, participation of the
stakeholders is a must, which will be participated and to be agreed upon by the students, heads of
each departments, instructors, deans, Board of Directors, and administrative staffs.

semester.
30 June 2017
- Evaluation of the implementation.
- Analyzing if the Wi-fi connection doesnt have a problem or is needed to improve or
revise the policy, if ever.
- Examining the need to develop further study or research and development regarding the
Wi-fi connection in school.

COSTS
Costs for the Wi-fi connection alone, if PLDT is used as the internet service provider where as
follows:
POWER PLUS PLAN 2899 (Speeds of up to 50 Mbps) = 2899
x5
Monthly Total Payment 14,495
Total Semester Payment 43,485

CONCLUSION
Preparation for this proposal has led to the conclusions, as follows:
1. The Institution need to implement a Wi-fi connectivity in regards to the technological
aspects of the institution in achieving its vision and goal to produce suitable instructors
and a wide array of technologically competent students.
2. The Institution must regularly monitor the policy and implementation to promote a
discipline used of internet among the students, and teachers.
3. The institution must integrate technology into the classroom with which is a great way to
reach diversity in learning styles.
4. The institution must help students become more responsible with the use of technology.
5. Enables educators to employ new educational practices as with the help of technology
specifically, Wi-fi connection.
6. The academe must institutionalize public participation in the development and
