A is for Ashes
In between the city and East
Egg, there is a place called
the Valley of Ashes.

This is the location of George


Wilsons gas station/repair
shop.

In the Valley of Ashes, George


Wilsons wife Myrtle is hit and
killed by Gatsbys car that
Daisy was driving.
B is for Bootlegger
Throughout the entire story,
Gatsby has a mysterious side
job the nobody can figure out
what it is.

It turns out that him and his


friend Wolfsheim are both in
the bootlegging business.

This is important because the


story is set in a time when
prohibition was in place in the
United States.
C is for City
New York City plays a huge
role in this story.

The characters often go to the


city to get out of West and
East Egg.

The main character, Nick,


works on Wall Street in New
York City in the bond
business.
D is for Daisy
Daisy is married to Tom Buchanan
and lives in East Egg. Daisy is
cousins to the narrator, Nick
Caraway.

Daisy is reunited with Gatsby, whom


she was in love with before he left for
the war.

Daisy is left to decide between


staying with her mean husband Tom
or going with the person she really
loves which is Gatsby.

When Gatsby was shot, Daisy and


Tom disappear and pay no attention
to the death of Gatsby.
E is for East Egg
East Egg is an area of New
York were the rich and famous
choose to live. It is separated
by a bay from its counterpart,
West Egg.

Daisy and Tom live on East


Egg, right across the bay from
Gatsby and Nick.

East Egg is full of old money


because it is occupied by
families that have been
wealthy for year and years.
F is for Fitzgerald

The story of The Great


Gatsby is written by the great
American author, F. Scott
Fitzgerald.

Many people believe that


Fitzgerald wrote The Great
Gatsby as a representation of
his own life.
G is for Gatsby
Jay Gatsby is the main character of
the story. He is a very rich man that
lives next door to the narrator, Nick
Caraway in West Egg.

Gatsby lives directly across the bay


from his love, Daisy Buchanan.

Gatsby throws fabulous parties that


hundreds of people attend, hoping
that one night Daisy will come in and
they can be together forever.

Gatsby is shot at the end of the


movie by George Wilson because he
thinks that Gatsby is the one that
killed his wife Myrtle.
H is for Hope
Many people view Gatsby has
a mysterious, and no good
man. But in reality he is just
full of hope in the story.

He throws extravagant
parties, just hoping that the
love of his life, Daisy, would
come wandering in one night
and they could be together
forever.
I is for Illegal
So many things that take
place in the story are illegal
for the time period.

Alcohol is illegal at the time


because in the 1920s they are
in the prohibition age.

Gatsbys bootlegging
business with Wolfshiem is
also illegal because they are
distributing alcohol.
J is for Jordan Baker
Jordan Baker is one of Daisys
closest friends. When Nick
arrives at the Buchanans
house, Jordan claims that she
is a lady in training.

Nick and Jordan eventually


start dating after they meet up
at one of Gatsbys big parties.

Jordan is also with Tom and


Nick when Tom discovers
Myrtle has been killed.
K is for Kill
Myrtle Wilson is killed by the
car the was driven by Daisy
and Gatsby.

She ran out in the road


because she thought the car
was Tom.

Gatsby is also killed at the end


by George because he thinks
he killed Myrtle.

George Wilson then kills


himself after killing Gatsby.
L is for Love
Love is the main theme of the
story The Great Gatsby.

There are many love affairs,


and sacrifices made for love
in the story.

Many people in the story dont


end up with the person that
they truly love.
M is for Myrtle Wilson
In the beginning of the story,
Myrtle is the woman that Tom
is seeing behind Daisys back,
from the Valley of Ashes.

One night Myrtle and her


husband George are in a fight
and she runs out in the road
to see Tom.

Myrtle was hit by the car that


she believed to be Tom and
was killed instantly.
N is for Nick Carraway
Nick Carraway is the main
character, and narrator of the
book.

He lives next door to Gatsby


and becomes good friends with
him after meeting him at one of
his parties.

Throughout the entire story,


Nick is the one in the middle of
all the plot events and he knows
everything thats happening
between Gatsby and Daisy.
O is for Old Sport

When Nick and Gatsby first


meet at Gatsbys party,
Gatsby give Nick the
nickname of Old Sport.

In the entire story, you hear


Gatsby calling Nick old sport
and he even tried to call Tom
Buchanan old sport as well.
P is for Parties
In the beginning of the story,
Gatsby is most popular for his
extravagant parties.

At his parties there would be


live singers, dancers, famous,
people, and, pretty much
anybody that has a name for
themselves in the city of New
York.

Gatsby would throw these


parties in hopes that Daisy
would come one night.
Q is for Quick
Quick is a good word to
represent the entire last half of
the story.

On the way home from the


city, Myrtle is hit by Gatsby
and Daisy, and then the next
thing you know Gatsby is
dead and Daisy and Tom
have disappeared.
R is for Risky
Everything about the story is
very risky.

The affairs between Tom and


Myrtle and the affair between
Daisy and Gatsby are very
risky because Daisy and Tom
are married.

Also Gatsbys bootlegging


business is very risky.
S is for Suspicion
Daisy starts being suspicious
of Tom when his mistress
keeps calling their home
phone during dinner.

Then Tom starts being


suspicious of Daisy when she
starts seeing Gatsby.

George Wilson is also


suspicious of Myrtle when she
brings home a dog leash for
Toms dog he bought her.
T is for Tom Buchanan
Tom Buchanan is the husband
of Daisy but he is cheating on
her with Myrtle Wilson.

Tom is a very rich man and


flaunts his money and riches
around. He is also very mean
and hits Daisy and Myrtle.

Myrtle believes the car coming


down the road that hit her was
Tom but it was really Gatsby
so Tom rats Gatsby out and
eventually gets him killed.
U is for Unknown
There are a lot of things that
go unknown in this story.

Nobody knows who Toms


mistress is at the beginning of
the story.

Also it is unknown if Daisy is


going to chose to stay with
Tom or leave him and be with
Gatsby.
V is for Vulnerable

Daisy is very vulnerable


because she knows Tom and
her are not getting along and
don't really love each other.

It then makes it easier for


Daisy to fall for Gatsby when
they meet again.
W is for Wild
The story is set in a time of a
lot of success and wealth.

People of the time tended to


celebrate their wealth and
success by throwing and
attending wild parties.

Gatsby often throws these


wild parties in hopes to meet
Daisy again.
X is for OXford

Gatsby is known as an Oxford


man because that is where he
went to college when he was
young.

Many people dont believe


that he actually went there
because he makes things up
about his past.
Y is for Yellow Car
Gatsby owns a bright,
custom, yellow car.

The night Myrtle was killed,


Daisy was driving the yellow
car that hit her.

Tom Buchanan is also seen


driving the car so everyone
thinks he killed Myrtle.
Z is for Zesty

Zesty is a very good word to


use to to describe the story
The Great Gatsby.

There are many affairs, illegal


behaviors, and a ton of drama
that make the plot of the story
a very good one to read.
