Today in S.S. I am: reading What Is My Economy Like?
So that I can: develop my vocabulary in economics.
Ill know I have it when: I can use my new vocabulary in a sentence.

C. Assessment of Students

1. Thumbs up when they hear a word they do not know.
2. Thumbs up when they think a word has to do with economics.
3. Exit ticket - Students choose one word and have to use it in a
sentence.

IV. Implementation
A. Introduction
Day 1
Pass out My Economics ABC book and Economy 101 packet.
Bring students on the carpet. Tell students all they need is a pencil,
whiteboard to lean on, and their ABC book.
Alright class, so yesterday you took a pretest about economics. Can
you tell me some of the questions that the test had? Allow time for
students to answer.
I think we first need to find out what Economics means?

B. Development
Now that we have a brief understanding of Economics, we are
going to dive in deeper to all the different parts of the economy. But
first, we are going to read a book called, What Is My Economy
Like?
Explain that the ABC book is for when we come across words that
are highlighted we are going to add it to our ABC book. Students can
write the definition as well as draw a picture to help them remember.
Begin reading book pages 1 9. Stop and have students write down
words that are highlighted or important about economics. (See list
above)
Once half of the book is read and the ABC book is filled in. Discuss
what the students have learned from the first half of the book.
As the exit tickets, students should write one sentence using one the
new vocabulary words in a sentence.

Day 2:

Review words from previous lesson.

Continue reading book and adding to the ABC book.


C. Closure
Once the entire book is finished, have students discuss with partners
what they have learned so far about economics.
Now that we learned some vocabulary about economics, tomorrow
we are going to learn about communities and their resources.
Have students do exit ticket, but it has to be a different word than the
day before.
