EXPERIMENTAL PLAN

I. Title

Heat related words suggests Agression

II. Statements of the problem

a. The participants filter off their answers.

b. Temperature of the room might affect the mood of the participants.

III. Hypotheses

Ho- There is no significant difference in the number of correct answers when

there is a heat stimulus word presented.
Ha- There is a significant difference in the number of correct answers when
there is a heat stimulus word presented.

IV. Definition of Variables

a. Independent Variable- Heat
i. Conceptual definition
Energy represented by warmth.
ii. Operational definition
Stimulus words related to heat that are shown to the
participants.
b. Dependent Variable- Aggression or Violence
i. Conceptual Definition
Behavior involving physical force intended to hurt
ii. Operational Definition
Number of words correctly answered on an aggression
suggestibility test.
V. Research Design

BETWEEN-GROUPS DESIGN
- The experiment has 2 groups of participants each tested differently
- Statistical Test: t-test for independent samples

RATIONALE
-Between-groups design
-2 groups present
-1IV Presence of competitor
-1DV- Number of correct answers
VI. Independent Variable Control
a. Procedure
The class will be divided into 2 groups using random selection. The first
group will be the control group and will be presented neutral words and
asked to answer the aggression test. The second group will be
presented heat related words. After showing 20 stimulus words, the
experimental group will answer the aggression test.
b. Conditions of IV
2 levels of IV would be presented in the experiment, the presence
neutral words and heat stimulus words.
VII. Dependent Variable Measurement
a. Apparatus/Materials/Experiment
Pencil
Timer
Aggression test
b. Resulting scale of measurement
The number of items that suggests aggression or violence.
VIII. Identification and control of extraneous variables

Specific Extraneous Control

Type
Variable Technique

Physical Noise Elimination

Physical Temperature

IX. Participants
a. Relevant characteristics
All students of the BS Psychology program of University of Santo Tomas
b. Method of selection
Random sampling
c. Sample Size
Total Population is 30 students with the control group having 15
students and experimental group with 15 students each.
X. Statistical Analysis
The statistical test that would be used is t-test of independent samples. The t-
test for independent samples is an inferential statistical test. It will be used
for the experiment because we are comparing the scores of the competition
group and the control group.
