Abstract: The implementation of Quality Management System (QMS) ISO 9001:2008 in construction industry is meant to
assist the industry in the improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the construction management team. In achieving
such goals, assessment of the level of awareness of the SME in the construction industry towards the implementation of ISO
9001:2008 QMS was conducted. Descriptive method of research was used in data gathering as well as in the analysis and
interpretation of the results. Results showed that most of the SME-based construction firms were not aware of the
implementation of ISO 9001:2008. This implied that the initiatives of the construction industry in training, exposing, and
actual learning to SME construction firms are low, which affected their level of awareness.
