work correctly.

LESSON DELIVERY (attach worksheets, examples, marking key, etc, as relevant)

Resources/References
Time Motivation and Introduction:

Students need to be sitting at their desks with their arms crossed and with all Science Books,
materials from previous lesson to be put away, and their science writing books pens/pencils
out in front of them (found on the back shelf in the green box).

The teacher will then explain to students about what they will be doing in the
lesson:
Today we will be exploring the Amazon Rainforest. You will all become
explorers and will need to create a video presentation to show the class what
you have discovered.

Then the teacher will go on to introduce the topic with the video (linked below)
and students will view this on the interactive whiteboard (start the video at the
1 minute mark stop video at the 3:16 mark) Interactive whiteboard
(youtube video set up)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEsV5rqbVNQ&t=27s
In your Science books you will need to write out some interesting facts that
you found out about the Amazon Rainforest. As explorers, you need to take
notes to remember what you found out.

Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions):

After the video has been shown, the teacher will then ask students what they
found out after watching the video. Example of cue questions below, teachers
can also create cue questions as they watch the video.

Does an explorer have notes about the animals in the rainforest?

Does an explorer have notes about the Amazon River?
Does an explorer have notes about the weather in the rainforest?
Does an explorer have notes about the 4 layers of the rainforest?

The teacher will then pair students up according to the student pair sheet
provided (this will mean that students with lower level of IT skills will be with
students with stronger ability) pairs will sit next to each other (one ipad for
each student) students will need to bring their science books and a pen/pencil
with them.
Science books, Ipad,
While students are getting into their pairs and long onto their ipads the pens/pencils
teacher will then bring up on the interactive whiteboard the word document
that contains the web links to the websites that students can use to research
their information and their pictures.

Gain students attention by clapping loudly 3 times. Explain to students the

task that you want them to complete.

I want you all too individually find out more facts about the Amazon Interactive Whiteboard
Rainforest, I would like you to come up with 10 or more facts and write them
in your Science books using the websites on the board.

You will then be creating a KeyNote with 5 or more facts and images that you
have found about the Amazon Rainforest.

Make sure you help out the person you are paired with if they are having
trouble.

Students will then start to (using the websites provided) research more about
the Amazon Rainforest writing down in their science books the facts they have
chosen. Give students 10 minutes to do this.

When the 10 minutes is up students will then move on to making their

KeyNotes. Go through the basics of creating a KeyNote briefly (creating a new
slide, adding in text and pictures) with students to job their memory from last
week.

Students then go off and start their KeyNote. While students do this, the
teacher will walk around helping students who are having trouble but only if
students in their pairs cannot help each other (this promotes team work to
solve problems).

Embed the keynote onto the blog on the SeeSaw Blog

Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students)

Students will finish by shutting down their computers and going to back to sit
at their desks with their science being collected and placed back into the box
at the green box at the back of the room.

The teacher will then ask revision questions to the students about what they
did today;

What were some facts about the amazon rainforest that you found?
What website did you use to find out this information?
What kind of pictures did you find?
What were the challenges you faced?
Did you learn anything new?
Did you find it easy or hard to find the information?

Assessment: (Were the lesson objectives met? How will these be judged?)

1. Check their science books for facts written down

2. Check Their KeyNote presentations on the IPad
