BijayaTamang Forces and Motion Unit Length: 45 minutes

Grade 6

Unit Overview

Main Idea (Claim) Summative Assessment

Difference of Mass and weight, Test

Work done=F*D

Guiding Questions Objectives (know/understand/do/value)

1. What is work? Students will calculate the work done by using a

2. What is weight? formula, W=Force*distance
3. What is mass? They will be told about mass, weight and gravity.
4. What is gravity?

Time Instructional Procedures and Strategies

15 min Beginning the Lesson:

Introduce Mass and Weight
Teacher: Will define Mass and weight.
First, Define Mass and its characteristics-
Amount of matter contained in a body.
Effect of gravity: always constant no matter
the location
Measurement unit: g, kg
How is it measured :Beam-balance

Second, define Weight and its characteristics

Weight is the pull of gravity on an object
Effect of gravity: depends upon the location
Measurement unit: Newton
How is it measured?= Spring Scale

Student: will listen to the lecture and will ask

if they have any questions. Some students will
be checked for understanding by direct
questions
20 min
Developing the Lesson:
Passing out the Students workbook and instruct to cut
it and paste it on their notebook
Teacher: Will tell them to write what they
have understood and move around the
students to see their work
Student: each student will write answers on
their own
After finishing the work on their interactive notebook
Teacher: Question(Ask students if they have
remembered the vocabulary word "work" that
was already defined in the first class and
Teacher will define work=F*d by drawing on
the white board and with power point
presentation
Then, will solve one numerical problem to
calculate work using, W=F*D
Student: Will listen to the definition and
explanation
Teacher: Will ask a question to check for
understanding. (If you push a wall, is it a
work?)
Student: will be allowed to answer and
explain

Passing out Interactive notebook pages

Teacher: Will hand a page to each student
and tell them to calculate work for each of the
problem
Student: Will continue until they finish three
10 min questions on work

Closing the Lesson:

Wrapping up
Teacher: will talk the facts about the
difference of weight on Moon, Jupiter
and Earth by giving the reason
Student: Will be allowed to ask
questions on their mind

Formative Assessment Differentiation

Ask student to write answers on

their own and also calculate
work done
