VBAs statement:

In regards to the Specially Adapted Housing grant, VA Regional Office staff in Houston have
met and visited with Mr. Martinez and determined his house feasible for grant purposes. The
grant process and requirements that he must fulfill in order for VA to proceed were explained to
him. Once Mr. Martinez selects a contractor that provides an acceptable bid and within the grant
amount federally allowed, we can move forward with needed adaptations. VA remains
committed to providing Mr. Martinez the adaptations through the Specially Adapted Housing
program that will enable him to move independently throughout his home and improve the
quality of his life.

Central Texas Veterans Health Care System statement:

VA is committed to providing Mr. Martinez the services and benefits available to him and
necessary to help him achieve his maximum independence for daily living within the limitations
of applicable laws and regulations. Central Texas Veterans Health Care System understands Mr.
Martinez feels VA has not been responsive to his requests in a timely manner, and for that we
apologize. CTVHCS has approved the installation of the vertical lift for his home and assisted
him with the completion of the HISA grant for the concrete portion of the lift. When Mr.
Martinez gives his approval to start the project, we are ready to proceed with the installation.
