Proving your driving experience

When applying for your B.C. licence, youll need to prove your previous driving
experience.

Accepted documents to prove your driving experience

When proving your previous driving experience, we strongly recommend that you bring either

an official driving record or a

letter of experience.

The document must be original. It cannot be photocopied or printed off the internet.

If you have it, also bring your

current drivers licence or your

international driving permit, along with its corresponding drivers licence (permit cannot be expired over
5 years).

Note: In some cases we can just rely your drivers licencebut its not guaranteed. For example, if your
licence was issued less than two years ago, and youre looking to prove two years of experience to exchange
your licence, your drivers licence might not be sufficient.

Requesting your documents

To get an official driving record or letter of experience, contact the issuer of your driver's licence. We
strongly recommend doing this prior to moving to B.C .
