Standards Addressed:
SS4H1 Explain the causes, events, and results of the American Revolution.
a. Trace the events that shaped the revolutionary movement in America: French and Indian War,
1765 Stamp Act, the slogan no taxation without representation, the activities of the Sons of Liberty,
the activities of the Daughters of Liberty, Boston Massacre, and the Boston Tea Party.

Description of how to implement in the class:
While learning about the American Revolution, students will be learning about events that shaped
the revolutionary movement. These can be found in the standards listed above. Students will take the
events learned about in the lessons and then place them on an interactive timeline. When placing
them on the timeline, students will need to give the year the event took place and one sentence about
that event. Students will be able to choose ten events of their choice to place on the timeline. Once
students are finished creating their timeline, they will be posted to the classroom blog.
This activity will help students visualize the order of events that shaped the revolutionary
movement in America. Students will share their timeline with the class and talk about the events they
chose. Doing so will allow the students to not only understand the information, but analyze the
information and the motive behind the event. This activity is serving visual and hands on learners by
having it to manipulate and visualize while working on it. I believe that anytime students use a
productivity tool, they are proud to show what they have done to display their knowledge.
Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi):
The level of LoTi used in this lesson would be around a three. Students are directing their learning
and using higher level thinking skills. Students are participating in hands-on activities using
technology to facilitate their learning and understanding. As the teacher, I still have some control
over the activity, but am acting as a co-learner. The students will be able to create a timeline using a
web-based productivity tool to show their level of understanding and knowledge. To bump the LoTi
level up, students could post their timelines to the classroom blog.
Description of the sample BBPT file provided *:
The sample provided gives a glimpse of what the students will produce. In my sample, I listed only
five events that took place, but students will be expected to have at least ten events. Using events
leading up to, during, and after the American Revolution, students will follow the example that I have
made. My example will be used to show the students how to format their timeline. I will explain that
not everyones timeline will look exactly the same.
Other comments about your proposed BBPT Activity:
I would like to extend this activity and let students chose one specific event from the American
Revolution and focus within that event. They would then create a timeline that shows the events that
took place within the one they chose.
