SMART KEY provides an intelligent solution to civilians that have burglary problems
or unsecured or less secured homes. Smart Home is designed to help people protect and
secure their houses from any unidentified person that are trying to enter their house without
their permission. The idea of the Smart Key came out when we found out that in the first
quarter of the year a total of 38,877 crimes involving properties were recorded. 12,216
motorcycles thefts, 6,662 house break ins and 3,656 cases involving cars were recorded. The
increasing amount of burglaries made us worried with the safety of the citizens in Malaysia.
Another source where we found the idea of inventing the Smart Key is we always hear stories
about people locked from the outside of their houses without their keys in their hands. So, we
thought that we should build an invention that can help people to solve these problems.
Smart Key was designed to be installed in Arduino and supported by ESP8266 and an app
called Blynk because we believe, to make Smart Key by using Arduino is the most efficient
way, easy and low in cost. Smart Key was built with an already available app named Blynk
and this app really supports Arduino. Smart Key is created to secure doors, gates, windows
and garages and to unlock them, Smart Key will identify its owner by scanning the owners
passcode, fingerprint and voice before it opens locked doors, garages, windows and gates
automatically after it identifies its owner. Anyone who owns Smart Key must log in first
before him/her can use Smart Key. They have to give their information like their names,
voice, and passcode. This is essential for the safety of the user because they do not have to
feel worried because Smart Key only will unlock for its owner and not for strangers.

Key Words: Smart Home, burglary, secure, identify, protect, safety
