Goal: Tohelpafewstudentsreducetheamountoftimesthattheyareblurtingor
distractingtherestoftheclassduringcoreandguidedtimes.

Why: Theirblurtingisdistractingothersandnotallowingtheirpeerstoprocess
andthinkaboutobjectivesontheirown.

nose,ear,chin,andeyebrow).Whenthestudentblurtsoriscreatinga
distractionIwillgivethemtheirsignal.Then,IwillrecordhowmanytimesI
hadtogivethemtheirsignaleachday.Wewillstartwithonlysignalling
duringcoremathandreading.

Results: Thesignalsseemedtomakeadramaticimpactrightoffthebat.The
studentsreallyrespondedtotheconversationwehadpriortostartingthe
signalsaboutworkingontheirabilitytogiveotherstheopportunityto
processandlearn.Thenthefirstdaystheygotafewsignalshereandthere
andyoucouldtellthattheyalmostwerentawaretheywerecausinga
disruptionuntilIsignalledthem.Thesignalsallowedthemtocatch
themselvesandveryquicklytheywereabletostartselfregulating.We
wouldhaveaconversationattheendofeachweekandtalkaboutthe
results.

Reflection: Lovedthisintervention.Itseemedabitfluffyatfirst,wasntsureiftheywere
goingtopickuponitandreflectonit.However,theyreallyrespondedtoit!
Icould100%telltheywerefinallystartingtobecomemoreselfaware.
