V90-1.

8 MW
The North American variant
Built on experience Rotor
This wind turbine is the North American variant of the
Diameter: 90 m
V90-1.8 MW, which was introduced in Europe in 2004,
with over 1,000 units now in operation world wide. Area swept: 6,362 m2
Based on the proven V80 variable speed technology Nominal revolutions: 14.5 rpm
in operation around the globe since 2001. Operational interval: 9.0 to 14.5 rpm
Designed to maximize energy capture for medium Number of blades: 3
wind regimes (IEC IIA) to further improve upon the
Power regulation: OptiTip pitch and variable speed
V80 reputation as a reliable performer
Air brake: Full blade feathering with 3
pitch cylinders.

Features include Tower

90-meter rotor based on 44 meter blade design tech-
nology developed for the Vestas V90-3.0 MW turbines. Standard hub heights: 80 meter and 95 meter
New 60 Hz generator is a 6-pole design which utilizes
a lower gearing ratio.
Primary bed frame structure made from casting to
optimize load transfer to tower, and increase overall
frame stiffness. Operational data
Improved main bearing housing design for increased
structural stiffness.
Standard LVRT (Low Voltage Ride Thru) capability to IEC Class IEC IIA
provide continuous operation through grid faults. Rated power 1,800 kW
Complete variable speed capability with VCUS Cut-in wind speed: 3 m/s
(Vestas Converter Unity System) technology.
Nominal wind speed: 12 m/s
Powered service platform as standard.
Cut-out wind speed: 25 m/s
Temperature -20 to +40 C
