This I knew beaten by the rain,
I do not speak of the kind of Cain,
But that of which we know no gain,
We crawl on the ground in pain,
For what we consider our main,
Yet from our mates, harder you should strain.

Ive learnt from the widow of Nain,

Even though death by my side is lain,
And all hope before me is slain,
One message is left clear and plain:

That Christs compassion is great,

Whether I presume it late,
Or term my challenge as fate,
Why, Ill never guess the date,
When shuttered will be my gait,
Therefore Ill watch by the heavenly gate,
As on the Lord I wait.
