GO WITH THEM!!! Video games are like a fantasy world for kids to forget all their
worries, and concerns. Parents who don't let kids play video games are killing their
imagination. Kids need video games to think outside of the box, like when they are
inside of school, the whole point of school is to be creative and who you are and to
learn more. I mean sure, there are a lot of video games out there that show
innapropriate content, but that's why they have a thing on each video game that says
like for example: E ( Rated Everyone).

Technology And Its Benefits

Technology sometimes has a bad reputation for leading people down scary paths of
sexting, identity theft, and introducing predators into their lives. However, technology
can streamline schedules, simplify work and home businesses, coordinate activities, and
much more.

Ultimately, technology can offer families a wide array of tools that can prevent blunders
like the infamous birthday party snafu.

Here are 10 ways parents can use technology positively:

Online calendars help coordinate everyones schedules and can be accessed by a

variety of devices. Google Calendar is a great one to try.
Cell phones allow families to text updates on activities, practices, and even grocery
lists. Do you remember how hard it was to organize schedules without cell phones?

Teachers are able to use class websites or apps like Class Dojo to keep parents
updated about school.

Busy parents are able to pay bills and bank online. You can conveniently pay the
electric bill at 11:30 while watching Jimmy Fallon.

Doctors are now accepting Skype or using messaging services to chat with parents
and patients. This can save a trip to the waiting room full of contagious germs.

It is easy to check the weather and stay updated on severe or threatening situations.
Keeping your family safe has never been easier.

Monitor a childs Internet activity with an app. Keep worries at bay and be
involved in what your child is viewing, texting, or messaging online.

Get homework help or locate answers to difficult questions like what happens to
atoms when you cut paper or cloth? by Googling or seeking educational websites.

Clean out the family entertainment center and go digital. Use movie or television
services that dont require bulky boxes, movie cases, or tons of cords.

Forget making scrapbooks with paper and craft scissors. Use online photo sites to
store, print, and create photo books.

Focusing On The Important Things

Remember the bickering party families that are now in a bitter feud over a childs
birthday party?

Both groups could have reached out to each other by using technology. They could have
easily located misplaced phone numbers, messaged the host, or sent private emails asking
for compensation. The ill feelings and media storm could have easily been solved early
on- instead they chose to demand and threaten legal action.
In todays world, families are pulled in different directions far too often. It is important
for parents to seek out ways to enrich bonds and relationships instead of everyone going
their separate ways. Technology has the ability to be used to lessen stress and time
consuming tasks that steal precious moments away from the family.

Video Games Can Be Good, Proves

Scientific Study
Have you ever experienced being told that playing video games is bad for you? For
hardcore gamers like myself, it has been a continuous battle against the notion of
games are evil. But heres the good news: studies have proven that video games are
actually good for a persons mental health.

According to a study published in the American Psychologist titled The Benefits of

Playing Video Games, video games can strengthen a number of cognitive skills such as
spatial navigation, reasoning, memory and perception.

Contrary to conventional beliefs that playing video games is intellectually lazy and
sedating, it turns out that playing these games promotes a wide range of cognitive skills.
This is particularly true for shooter video games, says the study.

The study also mentions that people who tend to play shooter games show accurate
attention allocation, higher spatial resolution in visual processing, and enhanced mental
rotation abilities.

According to a survey by the Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication, an

average of 77% or nearly 8 out of 10 children play online games in the Philippines, with
Luzon reporting the highest number of gamers. Now, these statistics surely coincide with
all those computer shop-hopping Ive done, which is quite a lot.

The first thing that you will encounter when entering a computer shop here in Manila is a
dozen (maybe even more) kids and teenagers flinging taunts to and fro. No, theyre not
fighting; theyre just playing video games.

Most of the time you will see them playing Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (or simply
MOBA) games like League of Legends (abbreviated simply as LoL) or DOTA. For
higher-end computer shops, some play first person-shooters, such as Battlefield 3.

Aside from computer and video game consoles, smartphones have also played a hand at
the growth of video gaming in the Philippines. Games like Epic Paint Adventure, Flappy
Bird, Candy Crush, and Iconmania have attracted not only kids, but also older
generations.
Meanwhile, simple games such as Angry Birds have the ability to improve players
moods, promote relaxation and ward off anxiety.

While many doctors acknowledge the interesting outcomes brought about by the study,
many still believe more studies are needed to conclusively prove that video games offer
more good than harm.

Until then, doctors advise that just like any other activities, one should engage in video
games in moderation.

The key is balance and time management. Kids and even adults should be mindful of the
time they allocate for games, making sure that they only play video games in spare time
and not sacrifice other activities like outdoor sports, work, and especially time with their
loved ones.

10 Positive Effects Of Video

Games
By Matthew Cenzon. May 7th 2016

When parents think about how much time their children spend playing video games,
they're typically concerned with the various health risks and conditions commonly
associated with video gaming addiction. However, with proper moderation and parental
supervision, your child can take advantage of the many positive effects of video games
like the ones listed below:
1. Physical Activity
There are many video games on the market, both for consoles and computers, which
require some type of physical activity. Whether it's dancing or playing the guitar, parents
have the option of purchasing games for their children that will force them to move about
rather than sitting on the couch all day.

2. Fitness and Nutrition

Many video games are available that incorporate fitness, nutrition and healthy living into
the game's main objectives. Video games that are meant to simulate outdoor sports are
fun alternatives for outdoor exercises, and can be done at any time of the day, no matter
what the weather is outside. Some video games are entirely based on physical fitness,
giving the player weight-loss goals and physical achievements to maintain a healthy
lifestyle.

3. Hand-eye Coordination
Regular video game play can increase your child's dexterity, which is very useful for
performing day-to-day activities, work functions and playing sports. There are numerous
exercises that can be performed to improve your child's hand-eye coordination, but most
of them aren't as appealing and rewarding to your child as playing a video game.

4. Social Skills
A lack of social skills and the ability to interact with others on a regular basis can be
detrimental to a child's development and can even lead to depression. Children who are
shy and lack confidence when socializing with their peers may have an easier time
opening up while playing video games. With online gaming, children can even interact
with a multitude of individuals, even complete strangers. Approaching someone you
hardly know, like a new classmate or coworker, and striking up a conversation can be
quite challenging in real life, but in a video game setting, there is a sense of anonymity
and security that enables people to overcome their fears of interacting with someone they
don't know.

5. Improved Learning Ability

The complexity of most video games gives your child a chance to enhance cognitive
skills like problem solving, decision making and reasoning. Video games have evolved to
a point where the user must take control and think for themselves, rather than aimlessly
inputting simple commands through a video game controller. Often times, video games
require the player to solve riddles that require patience and creativity before they can
advance to the next portion of the game.

6. Good Sportsmanship and Fair-play

Good sportsmanship and fair-play are values that are commonly developed in youth
sports and organizations. Video games offer another outlet to teach your children these
values, especially through regular, online gaming, where players are constantly
competing with one another.

7. Stress Reduction
With the pressures of fitting in, performing well in extracurricular activities and meeting
the expectations of parents and educators, it's no wonder that even children have to cope
with a great deal of stress. Video games offer your child an outlet for reducing their stress
levels by relieving them of the pressures they face in the outside world. Children can
completely immerse themselves in the video game, if only for a short while.

8. Team Work
Cooperation and a need for strong team work are more prevalent in video games than
ever. Online gaming requires players to communicate effectively with their team, while
following directions and performing the tasks expected of them to achieve victory. Much
like basketball, baseball or any other team sport, strong team work is crucial in video
games.

9. Coping Mechanism
Whether they are dealing with physical or emotional pain, video games can be a
sufficient coping mechanism for most people. Video games offer people a chance to
escape the outside world, which can be especially useful after a serious injury or dealing
with a traumatic experience. They are also useful to anyone suffering an illness or health
condition that confines them to their bedroom. The next time your child is suffering from
a sore throat or abdominal pain, allow him or her to play some video games to cope with
the pain.

10. Video Games Make People Happy

One of the biggest positive effects video games can have on a person is the fact that they
make people happy. However, it is important to moderate the amount of time spent
playing video games, for there is the possibility that this tool for happiness can quickly
turn into an addiction.
It is only through moderation that video games can be fully utilized for the positive
effects they can have on a person. Allow your children to play video games every so
often, or even use it as a reward; just remember to put a reasonable time limit and make
sure your child is also living a life outside of the virtual world.
Age comes to my father as a slow
slipping: the leg that weakens will
barely support him, the curtain of mist that falls over one eye. Years, like
pickpockets, lift his concentration,
memory, fine sense of direction. The car,
as he drives, drifts from lane to lane
like a raft on a river, speeds and slows
for no reason, keeps missing turns.

As my mother says, Hes never liked,

to talk about feelings, but tonight
out walking, slow to match his pace
his left leg trailing a little like
a child who keeps pulling on your handhe says,
I love you so much. Darkness, and the sense
we always have that each visit may be
the last, have pushed away years of restraint.

A photograph taken of him teaching

white coat, stethoscope like a pet snake
around his neck, chair tipped back
against the lecture-room wallshows
a man talking, love of his work lighting
his facein a way we seldom saw at home.
I answer that I love him, too, but,
hardly knowing him, what I love
is the way reserve has slipped from
his feeling, like a screen suddenly
falling, exposing someone dressing or
washing: how wrinkles ring a bent neck,
how soft and mutable is the usually hidden flesh.
this passage repetitively talks about how "age" or "years" - essentially depicting time - is
slipping.

2.It means those, who actually live their lives out, could better see how life has been
bright for them before going towards sleep (death.) The author emphasizes that the person
should fight fiercely and strongly against death. The purpose of fighting against death is
to realize the importance of being alive. The poet believes that goodness comes from
fighting against the death with full force and might.
