Dear President Elect,

I am speaking to you about a very important issue. Factories, buildings, and cities are
devouring our countrys once lush and healthy environment. Brazil and the United States rank
as the two worst countries in terms of their environmental impact, states the Live Science Staff
from livescience.com. This startling statistic is just one of many that prove that our environment
is deteriorating fast and without the development of more environment friendly lifestyles, our
beautiful meadows, forest, and coastlines will soon be gone. Together, as a nation; we can
develope a better way to live that not only saves our planet but, helps us come together as a
nation, to preserve the beauty this world has to offer. Why not?

One way our country can stop environmental destruction is limiting the amount of
factories that our being built by establishing certain laws and regulations. Factories and buildings
are constantly being built which is deteriorating our environment. According to the staff at
worldcentric.org, We are losing forestland at a rate of 375 km2 each day. This is more than the
total area of New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey
and Delaware combined! That being said, we need to limit the amount of structures that we are
building by creating laws that prevent the constant construction of them. By limiting the amount
of buildings built per year, we can greatly decrease the environmental damage and pollution that
affects our plant while even improving our own overall health.

Another way that we can adapt to prevent our environment from being destroyed is
emphasizing the use of environmentally friendly resources. These resources include, solar power
cars, solar powered homes, and using less fossil fuel based products. Declared by the
www.enviormentalproffessionalnetwork.com, By using more environmentally safe products,
we reduce pollution and contamination of the natural resources such as the air, water, and soil.
This means that we not only help prevent our rapidly disappearing environment, we also help
lower the amount of pollution that we produce, improving our health. This is another way to
prevent the environment from disappearing, and to prevent human health risks.

We can also preserve our planets beautiful environment by, using renewable energy.
Stated by extension.psu.edu, Renewable energy is energy generated from natural
resourcessuch as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat. Also, according to
extension.psu.edu, examples of renewable energy are, Technologies range from solar power,
wind power, hydroelectricity/micro hydro, biomass and biofuels for transportation. Using these
technologies, we can replace the non renewable energy, since it's bad for the environment and
cant be used again, and replace it with renewable energy which can be used over and over again
and is healthy for the environment and ourselves.
Finally, the most simple and easy method of all that we should use more often to save the
environment is, just establishing stricter laws regarding recycling and reusing materials that have
been recycled. Www.conserve-energy-future.com addresses the benefits of recycling, It reduces
both pollution, and landfills, conserves materials, and saves both energy and money. Reusing
our resources over and over again can not only help our society get more use out of its plentiful
resources but, it can even reduce environmental damage because instead of the materials ending
up in our enviorments precious oceans and land, they will end up in the hands of humans which
would use these materials for good instead of harming the environment. Finally, recycling can
even reduce pollution because the materials will be used by humans instead of being burned and
going to waste in landfills, causing pollution. Although there are some places in this world that
do enforce strict recycling laws, there are many that still dont. Despite these odds, there are
places such as China, according to www.earth911.com, In China, recycling isnt just a citizen
responsibility; its now considered second nature. We can work together, as a country, to
enforce recycling all over the world to help our environment, leading us to a brighter future.

Although, as a nation, we dont think about our environment that much due to already
being preoccupied with school or jobs, it, eing like heaven; plays a vital role in our lives,
providing both food and a place to build up our nation. We must preserve it so that future
generations can use the benefits of our environment as well. Despite our busy lives, without a
clean and healthy environment, we wont be able to succeed and progress as a nation. By
limiting factory building, using eco-friendly resources, using renewable energy, and finally,
establishing stricter laws that enforce recycling, a healthy and clean environment is possible. So
lets follow these guidelines to not only better our nation but, to better ourselves. This is
achievable. (805)

Ally Lubas
