Question: Explain in details the expectation for employees from employer.

Nowadays, not only employees have to fulfil the expectations from employer,
at the same time, the employers have also need to fulfil the expectation from their
employees. When hiring new employees, it helps if employers have a clear idea about
what to expect from potential recruits. Just as importantly, when making the decision
to work for a particular company, employees need to determine their own needs and
requirements. Generally, employers make hiring decisions based on whether they feel
the new employee will be able to increase or maintain productivity and therefore
profit for the business. Employees, on the other hand, choose to work for a particular
organisation based on factors such as their job responsibilities, salary, work conditions
and management style. So, there are some expectations of an employee which are
respect, communication, benefits, equal employment opportunities, good
working environment, sharing of information, and recognition.

First at all, respect is one of the most important that the employees want from
their employer. Nobody wants to feel like a cog in a machine. Workers are full human
beings and dont want to be considered merely as strong backs or possessors of
particular skills or owners of skilful hands. Treating people as anything less than full
human beings invites half-heartedness and may produce deep, lasting resentment. By
keeping in mind the points made here managers will show respect for their workers.
This will not only strengthen the work force but workers will feel better about
themselves and create a happier, more productive workplace. Employees also expect
that employers give them the respect they deserve for contributing their talents and
skills to the organization. For example, Alvin works as a staff at ABC company, his
manager express respect for Alvin and the other staff when they treat employees
as if they are adults who are capable of making smart choices. His manager
created a respectful workplace by treating everyone equally; the staffs just have
different jobs and roles.

In a workplace, the employees also required from their employer about the
communication between each other. In most employee engagement surveys,
leadership communication often has the poorest ratings and the most negative
feedback. So, the employer has to be available to listen to concerns and provide
guidance as needed, and also have the good communication between every
department in the company thus giving the opportunity to the employee have a chance
to involve in company decision making process. Therefore, employees' expectations
also include providing them with really good communication and clear direction on
their job duties, as well as rewarding employees' performance accordingly. So, the
communication between employer and employees is very important in order to create
a peaceful workplace and also build a good relationship between each other. For
example, Alvins manager always maintains a good relationship between every
department in their company by having a good communication between
everyone. He is putting effort on communicate with other employees and also
helping them to solve the problem as well. Another example, emails and texts are
not the right place for negative news. It also is not an excuse for poor
communication if you are separated by distance from some members of your
team.

Moving on to the next point, the most employees want from their employer
including also the benefits that they received. Every worker wishes to get a reward
for their hard work. So, the employer can offer the employee benefit such as giving
them professional training program. As a result, employees are often expected to
produce results without getting much training. The company should provide training
program for their employee to increase their skill and knowledge instead of expects
higher productivity from employees without giving training program. Therefore, the
employer should give the employees rewards according to their performance on their
job and duties. So, it can satisfy the need and wants of the employees thus they will
put more effort on completing their task with the flying colour result. For example,
Alvin always doing the task and exceed the target that set by his manager
properly. So, the manager offers some benefits to Alvin such as bonuses,
incentive, and incremental of salary. Alvin feel satisfy on his job and put more
effort in order to achieve the higher target that set by his manager.

Moreover, equal employment opportunity is also one of the expectations for

employees from their employer. Federal and state laws mandate that covered
employers provide equal employment opportunities to applicants and employees. It
means that organizations must accrete to anti-discrimination laws that prohibit unfair
employment practices based on non-job-related factors, such as race, national origin,
religion and sex. Also, some of the employer treats his or her relative particularly
good compare with other employees. This will be very unfair for the other employees.
Once they feel they are treated by their employer unfairly, they will become resentful
and certainly not do their best. However, employees who work for the smallest
companies with only a handful of workers have the same expectations for fair
treatment as employees who work for large company. For example, Alvins manager
gives the punishment to the person who breaks the rules of the company even
though that person is his relative. So, the manager show clearly the equal
treatment to every employees by reward the person who done a good job; and
punish the person who are not following the rules.

Next, the basic expectation of the employees is to have a good working

environment. A good or bad working environment brings a big effect to the
productivity of the employee. Its only just that if they are to spend the majority of
their waking time at the place of their employment, that they are treated with respect
by being given adequate equipment needed to do the job. The employees expect
certain facilities to be provided such as a desk, working computer, kitchen, toilet
facilities, paper, etc. If the employees are not catered for in this basic way, they will
become depressed and therefore leave the company. It is therefore of high importance
that there is a good environment provided for staff to work in every day. Every
employees wish to work at a safety, good and also happy environment so that they can
work in a comfortable place therefore to complete their task with a great result. For
example, Alvins employer provides the working environment with full facilities,
safe, and comfortable place for their employees. Also, the employer will satisfy
the requirement to update their work environment from their employees.
According to the work environment that provide by his employee, Alvin and his
colleague put more effort on completing the job that given by their employer
with high quality as fast as possible.
In addition, sharing of information is also one of the employees want from
their employer. Knowledge is power. But like all power, knowledge power can be
used wisely or destructively. As a manager, you will be more informed about wider
aspects of your organization than will most of your staff. So, sharing of information is
very important in the relationship between employer and employees. By not sharing
as much information as possible they miss a great opportunity to improve their
employees morale and motivation. The manager cannot be selfish to share his skill
and knowledge to their employee. Sharing the skill and knowledge can help to
improve the productivity of every employee in order to succeed the company. The
more employees understand about the entire organization and how higher
management looks at their work; the better they can direct their efforts. Of course, the
more you share, the greater the workers and the better they will perform. For
example, Alvins manager conducts a meeting for the employees by sharing his
skill and knowledge and his working experience for various years. Thus, it can
motivate the employees and increase their skill and knowledge. Also, they will
feel appreciated because the manager is willing to share all the information from
him.

Apart from that, the other expectation from employees from the employer is
recognition. The manager of the company should provide feedback to the employees
when they did wrong; and showing appreciation when they did well. Taking good
work for granted is a sure way to kill ambition and motivation for excellence.
Sometimes, managers too often forget how important they are in the eyes of their
employees. The recognition of the manager is very important in order to build the
confidence and work effectiveness of the employees. So, the manager has to spend the
time on analysing the job performance of his employees and recognize the good work
of the employee who done the good job for their company. For example, Alvins
manager builds a good relationship with every worker. He always concern with
the job performance of the employees. If the employee done a good job, the
manager will recognize the hard work of his employee and motivate them to
become better than before.

In conclusion, the expectations of an employee that discuss above are respect,

communication, benefits, equal employment opportunities, good working
environment, sharing of information, and recognition. Every single of them
contain the important information that the employees expect from their employer. So,
before the employer wishes the employees to fulfil his or her expectation, they have to
meet all the expectation from the employees. The relationship between employer and
employees is the main key to succeed the company in the future. So, the employer and
the employees should playing their own roles and responsibilities in order to build the
great relationship between each other and putting more effort on their job duties.
