2 Method
Dimensions
2.1 Clean the soil box thoroughly to remove dust and contaminants.
2.2 Measure the length of the box above the electrode plate at both the ends and centre to the nearest 1 mm.(a)
2.3 Measure internal width of the box at both the ends and centre of the box to the nearest 0.01 mm.(b)
2.4 Measure the height of the box at both the ends and centre of the box to the nearest 0.01mm.(c)
2.5 Measure the clear distance between the outer electrodes and inner electrodes at three approximately equal
positions to the nearest 0.01mm.(d)
2.6 Measure the clear distance between the inner electrodes at three approximately equal positions. To the
nearest 0.01 mm.(e)
Volume
2.7 Weigh the soil box to the nearest 0.01 g.(f)
2.8 Fill the box with distilled water(20-25C) up to the brim and weight to the nearest 0.01g.(g)
2.9 Calculate the volume of the soil box.
