GLOBAL WARMING AND ITS IMPACTS
The whole climate of the world is changing
regularly because of the increasing global warming by the natural means and human
activities. All the changes have an enormous impact on the peoples lives and
ecosystem. The average global temperature has been raised by 1 degree in the last 30
years. It has been reported by the intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC)
that average global temperature can be raised by 2 to 8.6 degree F by 2100. The rate in
increasing global temperature is because of the increasing emission of heat - trapping
gases called green house gases in the atmosphere. The temperature of the earth
increases every day. We all are busy with our own matters. But now our environment
faces a serious problem of global warming. Global warming is the observed and
projected increases in the average temperature and oceans.

GLOBAL WARMING ITS ABOUT YOU

Global warming is a typical global phenomenon,
where the causers of the emission do not automatically suffer from it himself. Causes
and effects are separated both in time as well as with regard to geography.

It took more than 20 years to broadly accept that

mankind is causing global warming with the emission of green house gases. The
drastic increase in the emission of co2 (carbon dioxide) within the last 30 years
caused by burning fossil fuels has been identified as the major reason for the change of
temperature in the atmosphere. More than 80% of the worldwide energy demand is
currently supplied by the fossil fuels, coal, oil or gas. It will be impossible to find
alternative sources , which could replace fossil fuels in the short or medium term. The
energy demand is simply too high.

CO2 THE MAJOR CAUSES OF GLOBAL WARMING

Global warming is caused by the emission of green house gases.72% of the totally
emitted green house gases is carbon dioxide (co2) 18% methane and 9% Nitrous
oxide (NO2) . CO2 emissions therefore are the most important cause of global
warming. Recent investigations have shown that inconceivable catastrophic changes in
the environment will take place if the global warming or temperatures increases by
more than 2 degree (3.60F). A warming of 2 degree C (3.6F) corresponds to a carbon
dioxide (co2) concentration of about 450ppt in the atmosphere. The level of co2 also
causes the effect of green house. It acts as an umbrella which holds the heat on the
surface of the earth. When the amount of the heat on the surface increases it causes
much damage to the earth. These gases are needed in small amounts because they are
the heat holders. But when amount of heat holed by them increases it leads the way to
death. The amount of gases increases because of pollution. Industrial pollution is the
main reason. Although industries contribute significantly to Indias economic growth
and development, the increase in pollution of land, air, noise. and resulting
degradation of environment.

The amount of carbon dioxide was increases

day by day. We used co2 in large amount. Though the emission we will lose our world.
The major reason must be reduced. Through this emission the environment faces the
problem of degradation. It is a typical global phenomena that earth increases its
temperature, but when it beyond the limits it will affect the whole life.

WE HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM

It is only possible to mitigate global warming . If the world wide

consumption of fossil fuel can be drastically reduced in the next ten to fifteen years
There is simply no room for a scenario as it is predicted by the International Energy
Agency. It is also obvious that no combination of alternative technologies can replace
that current usage of fossil fuels. There is simply not enough non fossil fuels available
for this. In order to mitigate global warming, we have to use the available energy
much more efficiently. But this wont be enough either. We will have to change our
behavior to reduce our personal energy consumption. We must change our current life
style and seriously strive for a sustainable living.

EFFECT OF GLOBAL WARMING

There were many effects related to this problem. There were two
major effects of global warming are, Increase of temperature on the earth by about 3
C to 5 C by the year 2100. The polar ice caps were melted and the animals of polar
region affected badly . Through the global warming drought and many problems are
related to it. There is no doubt anymore; Global warming or climate change has been
caused by human beings through the high emission of gases so called Green house
gases.
The Contribution of nuclear energy reduce the cause of
global warming is only 10%. The International Energy Agency(IEA) predicts a strong
increase of the CO2 emissions by the year 2030. Additionally IEA investigated to
which extent the above mentioned emission of CO2 could be prevented if politics
applied rigorous measures

In search of global warming solutions, People are

suddenly asking for alternative energies. However more than 80% of our energy is
currently taken from the fossils source oil , gas or coal. It is absolutely impossible to
supply this much of energy from alternative sources within the next 10 to 20 years.
There , we should first ask how much energy is really required to have a good quality
of life, instead of taking our current energy consumption for granted or even
indispensable. In a second step , we can then look for potential energy resource to
fulfill this need. Global warming is projected to have a number of effects on the
oceans on going effects include rising sea levels due to thermal expansion and melting
of glaciers and ice sheets, and warming of the ocean surface , leading to increased
temperature stratification

The effects of global warming are the environmental and

social changes caused directly or in directly by human emissions of greenhouse gases.
There is a scientific consensus that climate change is occurring , and that human
activities are the primary driver. Many impacts of climate change has already been
observe , including glacier retreat , change in the time of seasonal events and changes
in agricultural productivity. Future effects of climate change will vary depending on
climate change policies and social developments. The two main policies to address
climate change are reducing human green house gas emission or climate change
mitigation and adapting to the impact of climate change, Geo engineering is another
policy option . Near-term climate change policies could significantly affect long-term
impacts.
