Soup & Scripture
While we are not holding a Soup & Scripture
series at St. Columba this Lent, you may wish to

Camino Rico. It is held on Thursdays, with a
soup supper at 6:00 p.m. followed by a presen-
tation at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon Bob Ekhaml. He
will talk on the Catechism of the Catholic
Church, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and how to

Youth Group will be hosting the third annual
Palm Sunday Brunch and Easter Hunt. As a
special treat, the St. Columba School Choir will
also be performing.

LIGHTING UPGRADE
One initiative of the Sustainability Action Plan
(SAP) for our parish was to replace all our light-
ing throughout the parish buildings with energy
efficient LED'S. The process, which started last
summer, has just been completed. A total of
828 fluorescent tubes and 150 incandescent
light bulbs have been replaced with LED's at a
cost of $12,591.23. The savings has already
been significant. From July 2016 to January
2017 the parish and school have saved over
$9,500.00 in electricity costs. In the next couple
of months, the savings alone will have paid for
the entire project and the annual savings will
be over $15,000. This is just one aspect of the
SAP which is designed to make responsible de-
cisions, that protect the environment. In the
words of Pope Francis, "Being Responsible
Stewards of the Earth."

CRS RICE BOWL: During Lent we will participate in CRS Rice Bowl, a faith-in-action program that will help you
experience Lenten spirituality by living solidarity with people in need around the world. Every child has been
given a CRS Rice Bowl to take home. We will be collecting your CRS Rice Bowl at the end of Lent.

tion, music, and gambling all came together to make a memorable evening. In addition to the school sup-
port, we are so grateful for the support and participation of Fr. Ed and for all of our parishioners and friends. St.
