- Produce a brainstorm on popplet of their fairy-tale


- Identify the elements that make up a story (beginning, plot, end, characters, setting) and link their stories with
these
- Use puppet pals to tell fairy-tale (carry-on lesson)

Motivation and Lesson Introduction:
9.00am Children have come into class and are seated on the mat. Begin by asking
students if they read any books last night? If so, what book did you read/was
read to you? Ask if anyone has read any fairy-tales lately? What are some
fairy-tales we can think of? What are your favourites? Listen to answers and
explore opportunities of learning.

9.10 am Lets read a fairy-tale!

Lesson Development:

9.17am Explain that in a fairy-tale and in other stories there is a particular features
that the narrator (explain narrator) uses so that the story makes sense.

As a class we are going to create a brainstorm on popplet (open popplet and whiteboard/laptop or
begin brainstorm) with all the parts that make up a story and use Jack and the ipad/popplet app
Beanstalk as our example.

9.20am The first thing that makes up the story - explain title, beginning, plot, end,
setting and message (whilst adding into popplet and giving examples from
Jack and the Beanstalk).

Ask students to get into groups of four (of people they work responsibly and
make good choices with), alter group choices where needed.

Ask one person from group to go get Ipad and ask the others to find a space Ipads
to work in.

9.35 am Instruct students to set up a popplet and start creating their own fairy-tale.
Outline that it must contain all the features discussed and leave example up
for students to see (interactive whiteboard).

Allow students to start, walk around room and help where needed.

Lesson Closure:
10.05am Ask students to return to the mat with their stories.
Tell students that after recess we are going to be creating the puppet pal app
to present their stories.

Read stories while students are at recess and edit where needed/make note
of questions to clarify story before children record.

Assessment:

-Using a checklist and observation see that all class members have been
apart of creating a story.
-Use finished product of puppet pals and popplet brainstorm to ensure
children have understood the components of the text type.
