In this paper, it is incredibly informative about the difficulties a teenage girl has with Autism. The perspective of the
paper is not limited to one side. The author, Elizabeth Cridland, used the point of view from the mother, the teenage
girl, and what an outsider would observe. After going through the trials and struggles the young girl was experiencing,
Cridland also explained what strengths the girl had to overcome and conquer her problems. It was a moving paper to
read because it forced the reader to understand that teenage girls with Autism lead normal lives, and they have the
Using this paper for my research paper would be very beneficial because it shows another side to how Autism can
affect childrens lives. I want to focus on how Autism works within children, and reading Being A Girl In a Boys
World, will help me achieve this goal. Explaining what an Autistic girl goes through, socially, would create another
In this article, Alexandra Sifferlin, really explored of the difference of Autism in boys and girls. The facts were very
thought out and studied. She researched an experiment done on both boys and girls and came up with outstanding
conclusions. She wrote in a simple way to engage her readers, and to help them better understand what is different
The research done in Alexandra Sifferlins article is will be very helpful in my research paper. It will help state more
facts that will show I have done my research. It is important to have facts in my paper because it makes it more
credible. I found a lot of information about the differences that I will use in my paper.
Sheryl, Ubelacker. "Researchers Close in on Why More Boys Battle with Autism."
This article was more about the genes and the science. It went through the different Chromosomes in boys and girls.
It showed the facts about the higher percentage with boys. It went into depth about why girls seem to be able to show
I will use the science in this paper to prove my point about the differences in boys. I want to have more scientific facts
and experiences to truly show my point. I want to explain how when kids are taken care of and treated in certain
Steve, Connor.. "Brain Scans Show Autism Affects Men and Women Differently." Canberra Times, 10 A Aug. \
This article was a lot shorter than others, but it was very informative. It got straight to the point explaining the
differences in boys and girls. Steve Connor also expressed his facts by saying that boys should be treated differently
than girls. He conducted an experiment and had brain scans done on both boys and girls. It was incredible to read his
results and understand how different brains work when a child has autism.
The experiment conducted in this article will be something that I will want to use in my paper. Using the facts and data
that returned with doing brain scans on these children would prove to be a good portion of my paper. I like the angle
Cowley, Geoffrey, et al. "GIRLS, BOYS and AUTISM. (Cover Story)." Newsweek, vol. 142, no. 10, 08 Sept. 2003, pp.
This whole article was just informing his readers about what causes, occurs, and how to understand what happens to
a person with autism. It explains autism as a whole and it does not break off into boys and girls. He explored what
one man went through on a daily bases, and it became kind of a personal view. Which was intriguing and unique.
Most of the articles I had chosen were about the differences in boys and girls with autism, but this one went into a
deeper meaning with autism. I think it is important to have more facts about how autism affects everyone as a group
instead of separating them into boys and girls. I liked the details it included about the personalities autism gives the
people.
ARCHER, CONNOR and JESSICA PRESS. "Connor's Life with Autism." Scholastic Action, vol. 40, no. 4,
This story took a more personal point of view. It went specific in the life of one person who suffers with autism. It was
incredibly insightful, and the writing style brought emotions into it. Connor explained, in his own experiences, what it

was like and how he was treated. His life is a lot different than what most people would assume, and it was
Using a personal source could be beneficial in including that in my paper. It might benefit my paper by explaining
what an autistic person goes through, in their own words. Although, it is a little more biased and is clearly a
persuasive article, it also has some really good quotes that would improve my paper.

Down Syndrome." Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, vol. 27, no. 4, 01 Aug. 1997, pp. 385-
This is a whole guide created by two doctors. They explore, with an incredible amount of research, what children with
autism behavior is like. Not only is it informative about what signs to look for, but also their opinion based on their
research about what methods should be used. They talk about methods they have tested that have worked best and
Showing methods in controlling behaviors of autistic kids is an important piece of my paper. Using the proven facts
from An Investigation of Attention and Affect in Children with Autism and Down Syndrome would make my paper
stronger, and address my concerns better. It is important to have more facts than opinions, and using this guide

Children, vol. 82, no. 1, Oct. 2015, pp. 81-95. Web. 17. 2017.
The main point this paper was meant to address what kind of stresses parents go through and their families when
they have a child with autism. It compared different level of stresses with multiple experiments with different kind of
families. It goes through every kind of stress that you could think of: social, personal, and raising a child.

Once again, this is another point of view that would bring another aspect into my paper. Showing what parents go
through to maintain a normal life style, is unique and a different angle. It also explains more facts into the behaviors of
children with autism. I would use this paper to have more examples of behaviors.
