Standards:
S1.E1.5a: Demonstrates mature patterns of locomotor skills in dynamic small-sided
practice tasks, gymnastics, and dance
S2.E1.5: Combines spatial concepts with locomotor and nonlocomotor movements for
small groups in gymnastics, dance and games environments
S4.E1.5: Engages in physical activity with responsible interpersonal behavior (e.g., peer
to peer, student to teacher, student to referee)

Objectives:
Help students recognize the value of lifelong physical activities
Ability to follow directions and perform movements as performed by the dancers on
screen
Students will be able to work with a group and create a dance routine together

Equipment:
Projector
Often times it can be difficult to purchase things like a game console
Youtube and a projector are a great way to still use Just Dance! In your
classroom
The scores and performance isnt necessarily the point
If students see the movements and do their best to perform then
they are benefiting!

Anticipatory Set
What are your favorite dances/dance moves?
How does dancing make you feel?
Is it good exercise?
What else do you like to do for exercise?
How to Play Just Dance!
Power Button (Console/Controller)
Stand in front of the screen
Just Dance Mode
Pick a Song (Controller/Hand Movement)
Follow the person on the screen
Movements also scroll right to left along the bottom
Be mindful of everyones personal bubble

Assessment
CREATE
Students will work in small groups to create their own dance routine
Dances should last one minute
Students should use at least 3 dance moves in their routine
Original dance moves, or dance moves from the game performed in a new order
The group must be able to to set up the song on the console in order to begin
This ensures that the students do know how to turn
on and set up the game
The score on the game screen will not be
considered since the students are creating their own routine

*PE Rubric
L4 Students meet all criteria (Appropriate game set up, at least one minute, at least 3
dance moves, original dance moves or order)

L3 One criteria is missing from the group's performance (Ex. struggling to set the game up,
two or less dance moves, did not meet time criteria, not an original dance)

L2 Two or more criteria missing from performance

L1 No attempt
