Job Description - Vice President of Product Development

Position Summary:
This senior management role leads the businesss product development direction and processes. This role
includes a balance of strategic collaboration with the company management team members, project, personnel
and budget management as well as hands-on day-to-day implementation.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Product Strategy: Lead company product/curriculum development strategy in alignment with business
goals, desired customer experience, customer feedback and overall market opportunity to ensure
industry leadership. Collaborate with members of the management team to determine requirements and
provide direction to IT on technical product development and delivery system enhancements. Interest
areas for future development include mobile and multimedia technologies, pre-licensing education, non-
CE/skill and life enhancement curriculum as well as additional vertical market expansion. Oversees key
projects, processes, and performance reports, data and analysis. Plans documentation system.

Product and Process Development: Produce company product/curriculum to reach organizational


objectives. Define and document processes to improve efficiency, quality standards and profit margins
while optimizing product strategy and time to market. Collaborate with Sales to develop products that
support strategic relationships.

Personnel Management & Operational Communication: Manage the Curriculum and Compliance teams.
Streamline and integrate processes and communication between Curriculum, Compliance, Sales and
Marketing in support of the companys product development direction, timelines, budgets and overall
sales revenue objectives. Develop and recommend budgets to management; including staff utilization,
technology, facility and equipment requirements and improvements.

Relationship Management: Represent, advocate for and manage company and product development
goals through relationships with industry service providers, associations, regulatory/certifying bodies.
Align and implement products created through strategic relationships/partnerships with over-arching
company product strategic direction.
Minimum Requirements:

Proven success within the real estate education industry as well as e-learning delivery.
Familiarity with Senior-level information and a collaborative leadership environment.
Experienced in strategic planning and product lifecycle development within a complex, compliance-driven
industry.
Demonstrated leadership in curriculum development, deployment, and related processes.
Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues.
Experience with personnel and team development/management.
Demonstrated problem analysis and resolution at both a strategic and functional level.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has supervisory responsibility for all positions in the Curriculum and Compliance Departments.
Supervisory responsibility includes, but is not limited to: Staffing, training/developing, performance
management, work design and direction, and budgeting. This position may manage employees in multiple offices
and locations.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position are representative of those that must be met by an employee to
successfully perform essential functions of this job. This employee is required to effectively communicate with
internal and external customers. This position is regularly required to use hands or fingers to handle and feel
objects, tools and controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach, balance, stoop, kneel,
and crouch. The employee may be required to lift between 25 and 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may

Internal and external interaction:

This position interacts with peers both in and out of their department and their immediate manager on a regular
basis. They will interact with subject matter experts, consultants, peers, customers and vendors in a large
geographical area to support a variety of Sales functions.

Technical Software Skills and Experience Desired:

Computer and learning technology proficiency LMS platforms


Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products and tools.
Common web platforms (Google & web-based work and management tools)
Experience with products and services that are offered electronically.
Experience with a CRM Salesforce.com a plus
