From the moment I started watching your videos, I knew there was something wrong

. An aspect of the bigger picture that I was missing. Your wording and the way y
ou made the videos did give off the fact that you are educated and well-spoken.
And, somehow, it was clear that you struggled with life in one way or another.
To claim that the universe is something, that existence itself is something, or
even that sentience is something is wrong. No matter what you claim it to be, yo
u're going to be wrong... from someone's perspective. No truth is absolute. Ever
ything is in our heads. None of this marvelous universe would matter if we, huma
ns, one of the very few observers of the universe didn't actually exist to witne
ss it.
To better understand what I mean, think of colorblind people. They cannot distin
guish the color green from the color red. So, for them, one of these primal colo
rs does not exist. They will live an existence devoid of the color red. No matte
r what you will tell them, show them, do to them, RED will simply not be a part
of their universe.
Why, is it because the universe is cruel to them? Because red doesn't exist? Bec
ause he was fated to live this tragic tale? No. It is simply because in his obse
rvation of the universe, he physically cannot perceive the color red.
Same goes for blind people. For blind people, photons do not exist. For deaf peo
ple, the universe is devoid of sound. Furthermore, the concept of sound is compl
etely unknown to them.
So on, so forth. Now imagine a man that was stripped of all of his senses. He co
uldn't touch, he couldn't see, he couldn't taste, he couldn't feel cold or warmt
h, he couldn't hear... He was only allowed to think. He existed in the universe,
and the universe existed around him, yet, because of his physical predicaments,
he was unable to experience any of it. No matter how hard you tried, you couldn
't convince this man that there existed anything else except for his own mind. H
ell, for such a person, explaining the concept of "existence" may even prove fut
ile...
But physical factors aren't the only things that can render us blind, deaf and m
any other things to our universe. Thoughts, mentalities, ways of thinking, life
philosophies...
Let me cut to the chase. I just think you're thinking of life the wrong way. Sur
e, you may be objectively correct, and no statement that you say may be wrong. B
ut do you think it really is an intelligent thing to have such a dark outlook on
life? You know it hurts your mind, you know depression can shorten lifespans by
years, both in humans and animals. Staring so deep into the darkness will revea
l nothing.
We know that the universe can very well exist without life manifesting within it
. It's one of a couple billions of possibilities, which in no way is SUPPOSED to
happen. It's quite unlikely, actually, for life to exist, and, furthermore, for
life to evolve to the point where it can analyze itself. Isn't this magical, if
you think about it? It was never supposed to happen, and yet it did. Billions o
f die being thrown one after the other, one dice knocking over a billion more, a
nd a few of the numbers spelled out life, and a few other spelled out... us. Hom
o sapiens. Humans. One possibility in an infinity of 'em.
The way I see it, we are the first manifestation of the universe that can consci
ously control the universe. Sure, for now, to very small extents. We can barely
control our planet Earth, but, as we have witnessed so far, we can do mighty, gr
eat things. We are the steer of the universe, the ONLY one we know, and the only
one we'll ever be likely to know. If someone can stop the chaos of the universe
, and give events that happen otherwise randomly a purpose, a goal, a direction,
IT IS US. We can walk past our instincts, past our basic directives as living b
eings.
The most amazing part is, we aren't even limited to be the only steer of the uni
verse. As we have seen plenty of times until now, we can affect life itself. We
can intervene in the process of evolution, EVEN OUR OWN. If humanity unites and
follows a goal like, say, create a sentient species as quickly as possible by ta
king a species and breeding the increasingly intelligent individuals like crazy.
.. We can create another manifestation of the universe analyzing itself, steerin
g itself... Different from us. It'd take thousands of years, hundreds of generat
ions, BUT that is the point! Not only are we so unique and so scandalously unexp
ected when it comes to considering how the universe works... But we are not even
limited by our own death. For millennia, we have preserved thoughts for our son
s, grandsons, and their grand-grandsons. On paper, through speech, however we co
uld. For now, they have taken our ideas and continues developing upon them. That
is how progress was made.
We are taking our first tippy-toes into creating AI, give us a couple more gener
ations and we will create AIs that think like people that will be long dead. We
will be able to preserve brains, personalities, we will surpass death itself, no
t through life, not through matter, but through our greatest asset, that of sent
ience.
This is beautiful. And you know what else is beautiful? 5 minutes ago, I didn't
think most of these things. All it took was shifting my head a little bit, and l
ooking at things through a different lens. What point is there to look at suffer
ing, at death, when that is the natural order of things? That is what is suppose
d to happen in the universe we live in. Life is an anomaly, WE are an anomaly. A
nd a beautiful one, at that.
