Abstract : the theory of newtons second law and third law were examine in this experiment
by using rocket together with acetic acid and baking soda as a model. This experiment is
concerned the knowledge of Physic to launch the rocket by the purpose is hitting the target,
which need to know the projectile of rocket, and the force that keep pushing to forward. So,
our work is determining the force of rocket and angle of base to the exact value.

Introduction : This experiment uses variety of science method; Newtons first law- An object
at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the
same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

Newtons Second law- behavior of objects for which all existing forces are not balanced.

Newtons third law - every object has action and reaction when there is a force act upon the
object which the action is always equal to reaction.

For every action there is an equal and opposite re-action.

A projectile is an object upon which the only force acting is gravity. There are a variety of
examples of projectiles. An object dropped from rest is a projectile (provided that the
influence of air resistance is negligible). An object that is thrown vertically upward is also a
projectile (provided that the influence of air resistance is negligible). And an object which is
thrown upward at an angle to the horizontal is also a projectile (provided that the influence of
air resistance is negligible). A projectile is any object that once projected or dropped
continues in motion by its own inertia and is influenced only by the downward force of
gravity.

Objective: To demonstrate the newtons third law, projectile. Goal of the rocket is
Accurate ,Design ,and amount of chemical use
Materials:
Large Test tube

vinegar and baking soda

weight

mid- size plasic bottle

Toilet paper
Lab coat

Goggles

Lab gloves

Plastic board
Tape

Pvc pipes

Small rocks

Cork
Procedure:
1. use 9 pvc pipe to make a base and also for the angle of the rocket
2. use a PVC connector to connect base
3. grab two pipe and put across the base(approximately 45 degree) by using a hot glue to
stick the pipes(30mins)
4. make a wing by cutting a plastic board in a rectangular shape
5. grab a plastic wing and large tape that we cut and stick it on the sides of the bottle.
6. use a large tube to measure the amount of vinegar used
7. use a weight to measure the amount of baking soda used

Result and analysis:

From the experiment we set up the base angle of 45 degrees with baking soda (13.09g) and
acetic acid (200 ml) mixed together. and the result show that our rocket has been launched
and on the target( circle number3) which is successful.

trial Baking soda vinegar distance accuracy

Test 1 22.11g 200ml 20m 0pt
Test 2 14.06g 200ml 20m 0pt
Test 3 13.09g 200ml 20m 3pt

Discussion :
From the experiment, we have used vinegar and baking soda as a laucher for the
rocket. from test #1 we used 22.11 grams of baking soda and 200 ml of vinegar
and our rocket is landed over the target. from test #2 we used 14.06 grams of
baking soda and 200ml of vinegar and our rocket is landed over the target. from
test #3 we used 13.09grams of baking soda and 200ml of vinegar and rocket is
landed on the target. In comparison, we can see that the outcomes of test# 1 and
test#2 were in the same result because the amount of chemical used was a bit
over even though we decrease the amount of baking soda into 14.06grams. so
we continue to decrease the amount of baking soda into 13.09 grams and the
rocket was landed on the target. however, if we have a chance to do this
experiment again we will decrease the amount of vinegar used because we
didnt try to decrease it and also improve the rocket design.

conclusion:

This lab has demonstrated about the newtons first , second and third law. we used the rocket
with baking soda and acetic acid as an object to prove the theory of newton's laws.and the
result was accurate which is successful.
