Roles open to rising 3rd-9th grade students.
Costumes & choreography will be age appropriate.
The Young Performers Edition of The Wizard of Oz is a one-hour adaptation specially
tailored for elementary school and middle school aged children. The materials have
been prepared to help mount the best possible production and to give students an
exciting and rewarding experience.
Like so many girls her age, little Dorothy Gale of Kansas dreams of what lies over the
rainbow. One day a twister hits her farm and carries her away over the rainbow to
another world. Come join Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tinman, the Cowardly Lion and
Toto as they travel the universe of Dorothys imagination.

UNCLE HENRY A quiet and kind-hearted farmer married to Aunt Em.
HICKORY (TIN MAN) A young farm hand / A man made of tin rescued from
rusting who is in search of a heart
ZEKE (LION) A young farm hand / A cowardly lion who is in search of
some courage
HUNK (SCARECROW) A young farm hand / A Scarecrow rescued from a farmers
field in Oz who is in search of his brains.
MUNCHKIN MAYOR The blustering leader of the Munchkins

PROFESSOR MARVEL A bumbling fortune-teller in Kansas / A balloonist from
WIZARD OF OZ Nebraska who landed in Oz and was proclaimed the Wizard
of Oz who sets Dorothy and friends the task of killing the
WWW in exchange for a brain, a heart, a home, the nerve.

AUNT EM Overworked, no-nonsense farmers wife
MISS GULCH A bitter mean-hearted woman who threatens to take Toto
WICKED WITCH WEST away / The powerful, evil WWW who covets the Ruby
Slippers and will go to any length to steal them back
GLINDA The Good Witch of the North who greets Dorothy in
Munchkinland, bequeaths Dorothy the Ruby Slippers and
sets her down the Yellow Brick Road
