Rationale for requested session set up and format: For this class there will be two sections. The
first half of the class there well be activities for the children and parents to work together to take
care of a babydoll simulating their new baby brother or sister. They will change the babydolls,
diaper together and even practice swaddling the baby. After Everyone is done practicing what they
would do with their pretend bothers and sister, the children will get to go into another room where
they will be making a craft for their new brothers or sisters for when they come home. While they
are working on this the parents will be sitting in on a lecture preparing them for some of the bacis
of how to care for their newborns.

Prenatal Any time a new meber of the family is added it
Infants can be a stressful time for little kids. If parents
Toddlers can expose their child to what it might be like
Preschoolers when the new baby comes home then maybe
School-agers the transition wont be so hard on them. This
Tweens class offers help to parents so that they can
Teenagers learn how to talk to their cild about the new
baby so that they can help them adapt to their
new situation. Parents will now have the
resources they need to get their preshoolers
involved with the new little one instead of
fighting it and then the parents having two
crying children.

Learning Outcomes 1. How to get preschoolers involved with helping with the new baby.

that older child involved as a way to adjust to the change. By allowing


the children to go make something for their siblings while the parents are
in class this lets the parents get them most out of their session without
having to worry about their children but it also allows the older brother
and/or sister who are making something for when the little one gets
home, that is just from them, helps them feel like they have a role in
their little siblings lives. It helps to make them feel special and a part of
something bigger than just a making something.

Upload a sample flyer (8 x 11) of how this session will be advertised to
families. Be sure to include: topic, presenter, day/time, length, contact
information, and other pertinent information. The flyer should be
attractive and professional in nature. Flyer should be submitted as a PDF
document.
