Good morning to the respectable lecturer. Today Im going to give a speech
on the criteria of an ideal teacher. When talking about being an ideal teacher, there is
a variety of views of what an ideal teacher is. As a teacher, I have my own point of
view of the criteria of an ideal teacher.
Firstly, for me, an ideal teacher is one who can be a motivator to his pupils.
With the awareness that the pupils come from different backgrounds, have different
personalities and so on, an ideal teacher should know how to give an apt motivation
to each pupil. He needs to know that different pupil require different kinds of
motivations as they would definitely face different kind of problems. So, being a good
motivator is essential to be an ideal teacher.
Then, I think another important criterion of an ideal teacher that I believe all
teachers must have is being loving and caring towards the children. With the fact in
mind that we are handling children, thus we cannot run away from being loving and
caring towards them. Children need love and care from their teacher, especially
those who do not get these at home. Simply asking them if they are fine or simply
treat them a meal once in a while to show our love and care towards the children.
This would definitely make them appreciate us more.
Apart from that, it is very important for a teacher to understand the psychology
of his pupils. Every student is different from the other and will react differently to
situations. All students cannot be equated and therefore, need individual attention.
An ideal teacher knows where the students lack and what their requirements are. He
never fails to comprehend the needs of students and tries his level best to fulfil them.
Moreover, an ideal teacher is a leader. In the classroom, he owns the
spotlight, and has the responsibility of being a strong instructor so that students
listen to him. He has to lead his students on the right path through the learning
experience, and help by showing the problems that students may face in their way.
In conclusion, there are many ways to be an ideal teacher. There are also
many views of how an ideal teacher should be. However, the points above are
examples of my own perspectives of an ideal teacher. Above all, we must bear in
mind that we work with humans and not machines, thus being the best for them is
indeed vital and essential.
Thank you for listening to the speech.
