STUDENT RESPONSE AND ASSESSMENT TOOLS
For the Quizlet I have created, there are vocabulary words that correlate with the SMART Notebook lesson
on American Indians. Quizlet will be used as a study tool and formative assessment to prepare for an actual
summative assessment.
Right/Wrong Answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions? Yes No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, others will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback:
Will you pre-select correct answers to some or all of the questions and display correct response to the class
after the SRS activity? Yes No
Why or why not? I want students to be able to go back and assess their own understanding so that they
can study the correct answers. With the answers displayed after they are able to correct their mistakes and
will most likely perform better on the assessments.
Use of data:
As a result of the activity students should be able to identify the different vocabulary words that relate to
the unit previously taught. It will be used during class with my students and on their own individual time.
On Quizlet, teachers have access to their own class scores. They can collect that data and determine what
needs to be retaught. A participation grade might be plausible to use. Overall I think the students would
appreciate the data on how many chose a specific answer vs. others. I do not think this will help them
individually but overall it helps the teacher address miscommunications. As an educator receiving the data
from the formative assessment will help all of the students learn because it will determine what needs to be
retaught.
Describe what will occur after the SRS activity: After the SRS activity is utilized (for the appropriate
amount of time) students will be given a summative assessment which will include the vocabulary located
within the Quizlet as well as some of the content within the SMART Notebook lesson previously taught.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
I have never administered a Quizlet as a means of formative assessment. I have used it personally as a
study tool throughout my own education. I would like to see how it is received from students as a way to
study for a test, and to assess understanding on a topic. I hope to learn whether it is a useful resource for
students. I hope that the students will use it accordingly and have success on the summative assessment.
