Introduction

The most important thing you should know; the capital city of Romania isnt Budapest! Budapest
is the capital city of close neighbour Hungary.
Bucharest is the capital city of Romania, both economically and politically. Situated in the
southern part of the country, it is filled with unique things to see and do.

History

Bucharest is a unique site to behold. Shaped by centuries of political changes that have left their
mark in the citys landscape. What makes Bucharest so unique is the architecture of the city.
Buildings from pre-19th century style, are situated next to buildings build during communism and
new modern capitalistic buildings. Yet most buildings that are standing tall are remnants of the
early 20th and 19th century, or even older. Which makes the city look so unique.

The citys landscape is slowly transforming today due to the economical growth Romania is
undergoing. New modern buildings are decorating parts of the city, not to mention the many,
many big shopping malls. Because if theres one thing Romanians like, its shopping! Once
youre done shopping you can enjoy traditional Romanian food in one of the many restaurants in
the city, or enjoy a quiet and relaxing evening in the Cismisgiu park. Or maybe do the opposite
and experience a concert in one of the best operas in Europe at Atenue.

Not only is Bucharest a beautiful city for viewing beautiful buildings, its also one of the most
cultural cities in East Europe. Every capital city in the world is special and unique in its own way,
but Bucharest knows how to combine many elements together to have it all. You will feel like
youve become part of the city, with the lively and busy streets, the vibrant and active night-life,
and its ever changing landscape.
