Data Menu 3. Enter the factor by which the value of the source is scaled in the Magnitude field.
Data Commands For ports, keep the following in mind:
Data/Edit Sources Source magnitude specifies time-averaged incident power in watts.
Data/Functions If you are using a symmetry plane, remember to scale the input signal
Data/Calculator appropriately. For example, if you have one symmetry plane, use an input
Data/Solution Info value of 0.5 watts to excite the full structure with 1 watt; if you have two
symmetry planes, use an input value of 0.25 watts to excite the full structure
with 1 watt, and so forth.
Generally, use the default value of 1. This specifies the solutions E- and H-
fields to be scaled such that the excitation wave delivers 1 watt of power.
To view the solution at some other power, enter a positive value.
Only port-mode combinations with non-zero magnitudes will be used.
For voltage and current sources, keep the following in mind:
Source magnitude for voltage and current sources specifies peak value
volts and peak value amperes, respectively.
If you have defined multiple sources, you can remove them by setting
their Magnitude to 0. This allows you to easily observe the effects that
individual or specific groups of sources have on the problem.
For incident waves, keep in mind:
Source magnitude specifies peak value E-field in volts per meter.
When you scale the incident E-field, the scattered E-field and the total E-
field are scaled as well.
4. Enter the new phase for the source in the Phase field. This changes the phase of
the field by the number of degrees entered. For ports, generally use zero. This
zero-phase solution results from excitations phased in such a way that, at t = 0,
peak values occur at the port faces.
5. Choose Set after you have finished entering a scale factor and phase. The new
More magnitude and phase are assigned to the selected source.
6. If you have performed a fast frequency sweep, you may specify the frequency to
use in post processing. Enter the frequency to use in the Solved Frequency field.
Go Back The system uses the projects rational function to compute the field solution for the
requested frequency. This frequency applies to the entire problem.

Data/Calculator 8. Optionally, choose Clear Sources to reset all source values to zero.
Data/Solution Info 9. If an incident wave is present, select one of the following field types to use:
Incident Field The plane-wave field that would exist in the absence of the model.
Total Field The physically measurable field that exists with the model present
and a non-zero incident field.
Scattered Field The differential field formed by subtracting the incident field from
the total field.

10. Choose OK when you have finished editing the sources in the problem or Cancel
