Going Natural Livelihood Program : How to Make Calamansi

Concentrate
An Extension Service Program of the UA Graduate School

To train and to share. This was the underlying mission in the Extension Service
Program entitled Going Natural Livelihood Program: How to Make Calamansi
Concentrate by the UA Graduate School students under the Human Resource
Management course.

The event was held on March 03, 2017 in coordination with the UA Graduate School,
UA Outreach Ministry Office and UA Grade School at the HELE room of the Grade
School Department with the following objectives:
To apply Learning and Development principles and concepts of Human
Resource Management;
To provide additional income opportunities to chosen beneficiary; and,
To promote the use of natural ingredients and provide alternative application
of simple ingredients

The chosen beneficiaries for the service were parents of Yakap pupils, a program of
the University for poor children aged 3-5 years old.

Ma. Loreta Patricio, a Master of Business Administration student and a former Food
Tech trainee, led the demonstration with the assistance from other committee
members. The program highlighted the benefits derived from calamansi, exhibited
the production of Calamnsi Concentrate and also showcased the production of a
by-product of calamansi peeling - the Calamansi Candy.

While the demonstration was attended by the Yakap parents, their children were
kept busy through a story telling session given by other members of the group
which served as a learning and development activity for the children.

After the training, the participants each received Certificates of Participation and a
pack of ingredients and items (calamansi, sugar, bottles and printed copy of recipe)
to try, practice and develop the products demonstrated.

In the end, the event successfully met its objectives, received positive feedback
from the participants and proved that UA students are Mayap in aiming for the
betterment of many, Biasa in having the knowledge required for people training
and empowerment, and Maganaca in sharing their knowledge so that others may
benefit.
