SCENES ALONG THE ROAD TO THE NCAA FINAL FOUR block
Tyler Lydon led the Orange during the season with 67
blocked shots, the third-highest total ever for a Syracuse
freshman.
And over the course of five games in the NCAA
Tournament, Lydon registered 20 blocks, which is an SU
record for the tourney.
But the most significant of those blocks came in the
Oranges third game, with a spot among the Elite 8 in
Chicago on the line.
Late in the game, with his team leading by just one point,
Lydon stood in the lane with Josh Perkins of Gonzaga
heading toward him. As Perkins rose to launch a floater
with 2 seconds remaining, Lydon jumped, stretched and
knocked the attempt off target. Then Lydon grabbed the
ball, was fouled and made two free throws to secure the
63-60 victory.

Morrison has made her mark
at the program since transferring
from Vanderbilt after two seasons.
This year, the 5-foot-8 senior
guard played in every game, aver-
aging 15 minutes and 5.4 points off
the bench. But her sharp-shooting
skills from long range made her an
important component of SUs suc-
cess. She converted nearly one-
third of her 3-pointers (51 of 157)
and hit double digits in scoring six
times, including a personal-best
25 against a ranked Duke team on
Jan. 25.
