c. What is a subculture?
In complex, diverse societies in which people have come from many different parts of the
world, they often retain much of their original cultural traditions. As a result, they are likely
to be part of an identifiable subculture in their new society.

Having a concept of privacy, having art, making jokes and playing games, having rules to
regulate sexual behavior

Sex, race, age, sexual orientation, religion and physical ability

Males were typically characterized as adventurous, powerful, domineering and
independent. Females, on the other hand, were characterized as sentimental, submissive
and superstitious.

Stereotyping is a product of culture, therefore, mass media have a strong influence in
supporting and tearing down stereotypical characteristics.

Our tendency is to reduce complexity to simplicity. We trade-off for simplification, which
can lead to inaccuracy and we are often unaware of this deduction

Prejudice, our perceptions are highly subjective, and many people subscribe to derogatory
descriptions of ethnic groups.
5. Define family dynamics.
Family dynamics are the patterns of relating, or interactions, between family members.
